Hindu Mysticism has an Adage" Tera Tujh Ko arpan" which means that we can only offer to God what is already his, or that whatever we offer to God, is already His, including us ourselves!

This beautiful pic of Ganeshji worshipping papa Shivji exemplifies and illustrates that amazingly: Lord Shiva is filling Ganeshji's kamandulu with holy water, which he in turn is using to wash Shivji :)
