Aum Namah Shivaye!
Shivji is the basic essence of all things, the matter behind all matter. He is the One who prexisted, and so to he is the one who will remain no matter how many designs the world changes or evolutes.Due to circumstances, the Shiva "on" the brick may be changed, but the Shiva "inside" the brick can never be changed! A shiv bhakt, therefore , when He sees such a picture reminds Himself of the transience of worldly things and also remembers that which is unchangeable: The Shiva Tattva behind all things. Aum Namah Shivaye.
