The universe is both one and infinite, yet has many characteristics. Many of the other gods you see are a personification of a reality. Many emanate and bring focus to a concept that would have been too vast for many to immediately comprehend. In order to allay any possible confusion, the infinite is presented in a myriad of finite descriptions. Each god you see is a part of a whole, each one forms the entirety. There is one universe, even if it is a multiverse, it corresponds to one characteristic. Within this universe, there are many, many ideas that has to be personified for human understanding.
Another purpose of the gods we see, and put more focus on, is emulation of the personified concept. the symbolisms being presented are channels of instructions, a sort of guide for us to know what we have to do in order to attain our personal goal; albeit knowledge, strength, meditation, compassion.
