Lord Shiva Dances for His Ganas. What really sets Shivji apart from any other attribute of God, is His deep bonding with His fellow men. He never thinks of them as below Him, as dasas or any other servile role. He insists they are his Ganas, or friends , comrades and brothers of the mountains and forests.Here he is seen actually dancing for the entertainment of his Ganas! Nandiji is seen happily playing the pakhawaj, while the Rishis actually clap on in encouragement. Such is the deeply Human Nature of Shivji, Bhole Shanker!And Dance is the favourite expression of this most endearing God. Dance, which is the very expression of Life itself.Shivji is sometimes feared for the Tandav, which is the dance of the end, but this is a misnomer: all of shivji's dances are Tandav, and he has many forms of Tandav. The much feared and one which is often referred to , as the dance of destruction, is Raudra Tandav ,a very rare occurence. It only happens once in many long life cycles. Other than this Shivji has the Ananda Tandav, the dance of happiness and joy,which is being illustrated here.
Tandav, is better understood as the inherent Nature , and therefore action of Lord Shiva: it must happen . What is dependent upon the people of this Universe, especially the Shv Bhakts, is whether Shiva will dance the Ananda Tandav or the Raudra Tandav.

Shivji's Bhakts are beings of evolved understanding, they know shivji's power is not only to end life, but also to end death!! That is the great Lordship, Godship of Shivji: He can give death even to death, as the great Bhakt Rishi Markandeya found out even at a tender age. and we have the Mritunjaya dedicated to this great aspect of Mahadeva.
