2) Vermilion paste is applied on the Lingam – this symbolizes virtue.

3) Incense are lighted, which symbolizes yielding of wealth. 
4) Oil lamps are lit, which symbolizes knowledge. 
5) Betel leaves are offered which represents satisfaction with worldly pleasures.
