Lord Hanuman is Supreme Brahmachari. In many temples women are not allowed to touch his idol, though they are allowed to enter the temple, have his darshan and pray. While some believe that women can't worship lord Hanuman. But the truth is they can, they are prohibited only during their menstrual cycle.
As an ideal Brahmachari Hanuman ji is a perfect master of his senses. How great was this aspect is noticed when Hanuman ji entered Ravana’s splendid palace at night in search of Sita. He went around the bedchamber looking at the hundreds of wives of Ravana, who were fast asleep in various postures and clothes in disarray. He concluded that Sita could not be found there, but became worried about his own moral transgression.
He thought: ‘It is surely unrighteous to see another’s wife under the influence of sleep. I have never cast my eyes since my birth on another’s wife. Surely I shall be guilty of iniquity, but my mind has not been least stirred by it. It is the mind that induces the sense either to virtue or to vice’. This is the ultimate yardstick in mind-control and also in deciding issues regarding virtue and vice. He who has patience, intelligence, keen sight, and skill like Hanuman ji never loses his heart in anything.
Lord Hanuman abondoned all the pleasures of a householder and devoted his entire life to the service of his Lord, Shri Rama. He teaches us of the unlimited power that lies unused within each one of us. Hanuman directed all his energies towards the worship of Lord Rama. Hanuman’s only desire was to go on serving Rama. Hanuman perfectly exemplifies ‘Dasyabhava’ devotion, one of the nine types of devotions, that bonds the master and the servant. His greatness lies in his complete merger with his Lord, which also formed the base of his genial qualities. It is hard to find another who is at once so powerful, learned, philosophic, and humble. 🐵👁🐵
