SHIVA DARSHAN

SHIVA DARSHAN
Devi Parvati always asked Her Lord, Shiva to explain spirituality to Her. She always prompted Him to share His "Vision". And this is how we have the first records of Shiva's wisdoms being given out. His Revelations are called the Agama sastras, the ancient Tantric wisdoms of God Himself. Soon, as was expected, Parvati was well versed in those wisdoms Herself. But she continued to ask Shiva about them from time to time. Why?
Because she wanted the world to also be able to learn and share the greatness that Shiva had envisioned. So, He began telling some of the Rishis more wisdoms like the Bhairava tantras, shiva tantras, and raudra tantras to rishi Durvasa, Siva sutras to Vasugupta, and gradually this developed into a concrete spiritual system in ancient Kashmir.
In the very beginning the rishis termed it as " Advait Shaiv darsana" - the wisdom of Shiva which shows us that we are not separated souls from him.
Later, it began to be called Kashmir shaiv darsana, and finally, in modern times Kashmir shaivism, to honour the land in which Shiva first taught the rishis this darsana at the behest of Devi Parvati.
Learning Shivopaya from Shiva Himself, the ancient Kashmiri Rishis, became great adepts at both the spiritual and material life. They understood that by creative contemplation and some methods of affirmative visualization, one could re-direct the current way of living only the material life, into a great synergy with spiritual life. Shiva is Universal, just like Yoga. Just like anyone can do Yoga, anyone can follow Shiva. He is beyond castes and religions. So, whatever be your current spiritual disposition, whatever be your faith and calling, even while keeping that in tact, till today these wisdoms can help us to align the world we live in with our spiritual journey and purpose of life.
Aum Namah Shivaye.
