There are those followers of Kali, who take refuge in the symbolism of her terrifying form, because of their own terrible vocation like that of a butcher, or a cremation ground worker, etc.

The dark and fear invoking form of the Devi , is their altar of transformation. And yet, there are also exalted saints like Kalidas, Paramhansa Ramakrishna and Ramprasad sen, who simply love her as the all powerful, darkly beautiful mother, who is, the source of all light and beauty.
