What is Liberation?

Photo: What is Liberation?

Simply recognise all the virtues you appreciate in others and realise that they are present in you in seed form. You only have to nurture them.

===========================

What is Liberation?

Liberation means, that you have finally found rest (and this happens when you are finally free from all your desires and cravings).

When the feeling dawns from deep within, 'I am content, I do not want anything', and you have fulfilled all your duties and responsibilities, then you are liberated.

Liberation is freedom from desires; liberation is the total contentment that you get when you fulfill all that you had to.

Liberation is soaking oneself completely in devotion to the Divine. When this realization dawns on you, 'I am not the body, I am the eternal spirit. This body will perish but I will remain here forever', then that is liberation.

===========================

The divinity is everywhere but it is dormant, and pooja (prayer) is the process to awaken it. Anyone who is in touch with the divinity has no dearth of any sort.

===========================

Q: I start to do a lot of things, but I don’t get to complete. Can you tell me a way how can I improve the situation?

Guruji : If you want to do, you can do anything. It has to come from within. With the determination, ‘I will do this job, and I will see to it that it gets completed’. This commitment from within will help you, and get you through. Got it? Nobody can do the job other than you.

So, take up with small things and follow it through, and then you will get the confidence. That prepares you to take up big tasks. You know, why do you drop things? Because you think they are not important. But there is nothing important or unimportant in life, everything has importance. So, even if something looks unimportant, you say, “I want to finish it, and I will finish it”. Then you will be able to enhance your commitment.

===========================

Q: How can I cope with the anger that comes with seeing so much injustice to so many people?

Guruji : Don’t just feel the anger. Take action. You don’t need to lose your balance of mind. Rather, you should respond. This is a skill. Be calm, and united in yoga. That is the message of the Bhagavad Gita.

Why Should We Be Good, When Being Selfish Is More Rewarding?-1

Photo: Why Should We Be Good, When Being Selfish Is More Rewarding?-1

“Our Soul is a spark of the Divine. It is pure and perfect. Evil deeds merely obstruct our vision of the true nature of our Soul. Through good deeds we can become conscious of this perfection again.” – Swami Vivekananda

Why be good? In a world where greed, corruption and dishonesty dominate, what will we gain by being good? Why must we do good to others, when being selfish is a whole lot easier and often more rewarding?

These questions are immensely pertinent, especially in the times that we live. So if you ever desired to know the answer, here is a powerful explanation that will not disappoint!

“We are all divine.
In each is a conscious spirit that survives the body and the mind and is a part of the Absolute.
The goal is to manifest this divinity within.
Do this either by work, worship or philosophy, – by one, or more, and be free.”
- Swami Vivekananda

The answer comes from Swami Vivekananda, one of the greatest teachers of Advaita Vedanta and a sage who had realized his own soul. It was given in response to a question posed by a disciple, over a 100 year ago.

However, before we proceed to his answer, let us first visit some key ideas, that will make it easier to understand Vivekananda’s point-of-view:

Contrary to what modern biologists tell us, there is a purpose which governs our existence. The highest aim of life, of knowledge, of work, of all religions and spiritual paths is one, and that is self-realization – to discover our true identity, to know who we really our, to uncover our Atman or Soul.

Within each of us lies this divine soul, the source of all goodness, whose presence often goes undetected, because it is obscured by our ego, selfishness, greed and other base instincts, which form a hard shell around it.

“A tremendous stream is flowing towards the ocean, carrying little bits of straw on it.
You and I, are like these little straws carried in mad currents, towards that ocean of Perfection with God.

We may struggle to go back, or float against the current and play all sorts of pranks, but in the long run we must go and join this great ocean of Life and Bliss.”
- Swami Vivekananda

The goal of life then, is to crack open this shell and attain a direct perception of our Soul and its infinite qualities. Because the soul is an indivisible part of God Himself, to attain a vision of our soul, is to see God – an event often described as gaining enlightenment.

This state of enlightenment (also known as salvation or Samadhi) is a point where all questions, doubts, fears and worries cease; when we become aware of the One changeless existence behind this ever-changing creation of life and death, joy and sorrow – an existence called God – an infinite and eternal ocean of pure knowledge, consciousness and bliss; as described by the Sanskrit words Sat, Chit and Ananda.

Beautiful letter written by a father to his son?

Beautiful letter written by a father to his son?

Following is a letter to his son from a renowned Hong Kong TV broadcaster cum Child Psychologist. The words are actually applicable to all of us, young or old, children or parents.! This applies to daughters too. All parents can use this in their teachings to their children.

Dear son ,
I am writing this to you because of 3 reasons

1. Life, fortune and mishaps are unpredictable, nobody knows how long he lives. Some words are better said early.

2. I am your father, and if I don't tell you these, no one else will.

3. What is written is my own personal bitter experiences that perhaps could save you a lot of unnecessary heartaches. Remember the following as you go through life

1. Do not bear grudge towards those who are not good to you. No one has the responsibility of treating you well, except your mother and I. To those who are good to you, you have to treasure it and be thankful, and ALSO you have to be cautious, because, everyone has a motive for every move. When a person is good to you, it does not mean he really likes you. You have to be careful, don't hastily regard him as a real friend.

2. No one is indispensable, nothing is in the world that you must possess. Once you understand this idea, it would be easier for you to go through life when people around you don't want you anymore, or when you lose what/who you love most.

3.Life is short. When you waste your life today, tomorrow you would find that life is leaving you. The earlier you treasure your life, the better you enjoy life.

4.Love is but a transient feeling, and this feeling would fade with time and with one's mood. If your so called loved one leaves you, be patient, time will wash away your aches and sadness. Don't over exaggerate the beauty and sweetness of love, and don't over exaggerate the sadness of falling out of love.

5.A lot of successful people did not receive a good education, that does not mean that you can be successful by not studying hard! Whatever knowledge you gain is your weapon in life. One can go from rags to riches, but one has to start from some rags!

6.I do not expect you to financially support me when I am old, neither would I financially support your whole life. My responsibility as a supporter ends when you are grown up. After that, you decide whether you want to travel in a public transport or in your limousine, whether rich or poor.

7.You honour your words, but don't expect others to be so. You can be good to people, but don't expect people to be good to you. If you don't understand this, you would end up with unnecessary troubles.

8. I have bought lotteries for umpteen years, but I could never strike any prize. That shows if you want to be rich, you have to work hard! There is no free lunch!

9. No matter how much time I have with you, let's treasure the time we have together. We do not know if we would meet again in our next life.

Your papa

As joy rises in the heart At this sudden freedom Enter there and dwell!

Beloved,

Reject the reality of everything,
Deny the universe of appearance,
Say no to the phenomenal world,
Reside in the secret place inside.

As joy rises in the heart
At this sudden freedom
Enter there and dwell!

As joy rises in the heart
At this sudden freedom
Enter there and dwell!

You are the sun, the moon, the air, the fire, the water, the sky(ether/space), and the earth (the five elements or `bhuta's). You are the Self which is omnipresent . Thus people describe in words every attribute as yours . On the other hand, I do not know any fundamental principle or thing or substance, which you are not!

Lord Shiva seated on a throne.

Lord Shiva seated on a throne. This is a philosophical depiction, Shivji normally does not sit on a throne, but on a mountain stone!! It is from there that the mountain winds carry His lofty message for all mankind, From there that His fabulous revelations on life and Divinity emanate. He is the uncrowned King of His beloved Ganas, who are People who love him endlessly and would live a million lifetimes just to be near Him.
We will be writing about this in the forthcoming book SHIVA, Flight of the Ultimate time traveler.
Aum Namah Shivaye.

Purpose of life!

IMG_5631.JPG
Purpose of life.
We often think- what is the purpose of our lives? What have we come for on this world? What were we born to do? There are so many different philosophies explaining the purpose of life. Which one do you believe? I think you must believe in anything which inspires you to live. And at the end of it, the only thing that matters is what you believe.
We are all spiritual beings having the experience of human life. We are all one. The God is in our spirits, our souls. It doesn’t matter what is outside. All that matters is what is inside us. We live inside out and not outside in. Most of the people often let the outside world change what’s inside them. As written in Gurbani – “mann jeete, jagg jeet”. The day you conquer your own mind, your own soul, you conquer the world.
Look deep inside yourself, feel the presence of God within yourself. You will realize that we are all one. And you will find that you are divine.
God has sent you on this world to deeply love everything without fear. “NIRBHAU NIRVAIR”. Hate is the another name for ‘sin'(paap). Do what you love. Love everyone. Spread the love. If you start loving everything, you will see how beautiful your life and how beautiful this world is.
God has written a beautiful script for everyone’s life that can only become reality if you love everything that he does to you. Anything what happens to you is always good for you. Learn to keep smiling and move on. Have faith in God!
That is what I think the purpose of life is to enjoy the human experience. Discovering yourself, discovering the God within you and all the divine powers.
