One day, while serving Shiva His meal, Parvati asked " My mind wonders ever so often about the creatures in the valley and jungles and at the lower reaches, you know, basically the ones who are far from our sight. Do they get their meals always? Are the meals on time? I hope some of them, actually none of them, ever go hungry…”

“Ah, you are Annapurna, my dear! It’s natural that you feel concerned. But they all get fed. All beings are provided for, trust me. And not just the denizens of Kailash, but all beings of this planet are provided for,” Replied Shiva.

“All of them get their meals at the appointed hour, as the case may be,” He said, with certain assertiveness. “Sure, some get it a little earlier than the others. For some, a decent meal is an effortless event, others may have to wait, and there are still others who do strive somewhat disproportionately for it. But ultimately, Nature has a system to provide for all that it has birthed. All it births is sustained, else it would fail,”

GOD

God, said the Rishis of old

is not thought of as

a distant and unseen ruler in the sky.

He has been here with us!

We have had stories told.

Like us, He played out His roles

Son, friend , husband, lover!

And then, the Father, bold.

God, said the Rishis of yore,

is not thought of as just

a formless and ever unattainable essence,

for that, would have been a limitation,

albeit subtle;

And God, ever fixed upon the seeker's brow,

is unlimited, as we know :

When there is yearning in both Creator and creation

to meet,

He surely comes,

and who on earth then, can Him forbid?!!

God, said the rishis of yore

fear and faith

the One remains

whom thoughts cannot sieve.

Between discipline and impulse

holding back and release

is a sacred God

to atone the sensual beast.

Between the audience and the act

the fiction and the fact

is a backstage task

where the hero stands unmasked.
