CSR funds for Sabarimala

Union Minister prays at temple

: Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said here on Friday that he would take steps to utilise the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Fund of various public sector companies that come under his Ministry for providing basic pilgrim facilities at Sabarimala.
The Minister was talking to reporters during his maiden pilgrimage to Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala.
Mr. Ahir said the idea was to set up solar-powered units, toilets, washrooms, etc., with the CSR fund. He said the Travancore Devaswom Board had been asked to prepare a detailed report on the pilgrim amenities project. The Minister said the Centre was also responsible for the sustainable development and protection of Sabarimala. Mr. Ahir said the State’s demand for declaring Sabarimala a national pilgrimage centre was under the consideration. -TheHindu
