
Shivji's dance of destruction,The Tandav is feared as something like the end of the world.He is often portrayed in the cremation grounds and among skulls and bones, and although this is a fearsome sight, i think Shiva's symbolism means to convey a subtle state beyond death. It is only bodies that finish, the soul does not . I think Shivji means to point to that soul, that essential spirit that is always dancing in its own Divinity.
