Lord Shiva is the Supreme master of the Universe and the force of all creation and destruction. However he is very kind and benevolent and can be worshipped by anyone and everyone. Lord Shiva is also known as the ruler of the spirit world. He is the guardian of all living beings on earth and his divine presence exists everywhere around us. He is also the guardian of the spirit world and controls the souls of the dead and the wicked. This is why Shiva is also known as Bhootnath. He is regarded to inhabit the cremation grounds, covering Himself with the ash from the dead bodies. This is a fearsome incarnation of Lord Shiva, who commands spirits and keeps them at bay, so that they don’t harm the living. Together with Goddess Kali, Lord Shiva resides in the shamshan or cremation grounds. Thats the reason he is known as the Shamshan Adhipati. Their fearful Bhairava and Bhairavi form also serve the same purpose. Lord Shiva prevents the beings of the spirit realm from negatively affecting the lives of the living. When people perform Shiva pooja, they can completely eliminate negative spiritual energy through Lord Shiva’s blessings. Deadly diseases can be cured and one can even be brought from the verge of death with Lord Shiva’s blessings. Jai Bhootnath ~ Jai Shamshan Adhipati!!
