SITA

Trial by fire,
is what it took,
for purity to blaze,
her ideal womanhood.
In a land of men,
all were not Rama,
the unsuspecting.
Those who lived by dirt,
were forever keen on cleansing.
Not Rama!
She had found out,
in deception’s unvalorous clutch,
nor even Lakshman,
the fierily truthful brother,
whose circle of trust
was crossed,
leading to a trail of tears.
But that was in exile,
and this,
on homecoming.
