MYSTERIES OF SHIVA ARE ENDLESS.
Manimahesh or Mani Mahesh Kailash is one of the 5 Kailash. Manimahesh Kailash is also known as Chamba Kailash. There are said to be 5 Kailash where lord Shiva lives ~ Kailash Mansarovar, Manimahesh Kailash, Adi Kailash, ShriKhand Kailash, Kinner Kailash. The Mani Mahesh Kailash Peak, additionally referred to as Chamba Kailash, stands eminent high over the Manimahesh Lake. Manimahesh Lake is a high altitude lake (4,080 mtrs) situated close to the Manimahesh Kailash Peak in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas, in the Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh , India.
Manimahesh Kailash Peak (5653 mtrs) which stands towering high over the Manimahesh Lake, is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. The lake is the venue of a pilgrimage trek undertaken during the month of August/September and is known as the ‘Manimahesh Yatra’. Shaped like a saucer, the Lake is divided into two main parts - the larger part is the Shiv Katori (the bathing place of Lord Shiva), and the lower part is called Gauri Kund (the bathing place for Goddess Parvati).
The name Mani Mahesh signifies a jewel (Mani) on Lord Shiva’s crown. This mountain retains heavenly powers and remains unconquered. Manimahesh Kailash is invincible as no one has so far scaled it, in spite of claims to the contrary and the fact that much taller peaks have been scaled. The story says that a local tribe, a Gaddi, tried to climb along with a herd of sheep and is believed to have been turned into stone along with his sheep. The Mani Mahesh Kailash peak besides the lake is believed to be the home of lord Shiva. A rock formation in the form of a Shivling on this mountain is reflected as the manifestation of lord Shiva.
The snow field at the base of the mountain is called by the local people as Shiva's Chaugan (play field). It is believed that Lord Shiva Created Mani Mahesh after he married to Goddess Parvati, who is worshiped as Mata Girja. According to another legend, a snake attempted to climb the mountain but failed and was converted into stone. Devotees believe that that they can view the peak only if the Lord wishes so. Bad weather covering the peak with clouds is also explained as a displeasure of the Lord. ✨πππ±πΏπΏππ⌛️πππ·ππππππππ»π
