DEVI

DEVI
Somewhere in the mountains,
a golden tiger brought
his rider
to the Lord.
And the Lord saluted Devi, saying
you,
are mine own God…
This exquisite painting elicits a prayer to Ma Durga in my heart. Devi is Supreme in the hearts of all, even God Shiva Himself.
In sutra number six of the Shambhavopya , Shiva teaches Rishi Vasugupta , " Śakticakrasandhāne viśvasaṁhāraḥ शक्तिचक्रसन्धाने विश्वसंहारः"
Actually just before this, the sutra is Udyamo Bhaiarava, which in Shaivic parlance, is " The sudden flash of Self realisation "
So this Shakti sutra is an extension of Udyamo Bhairava, and goes on to explain what actually happens in that sudden flash of Divine consciousness. Or what happens when the yogi can sustain the state of Self realisation and keep himself yoked to the Bhairava essence, as the collective of all Saktis (energies).
What is that state? What is the experience of Bhairava, of Self knowing itself?
The Perception of the Universe as separate from one’s essential Self, finishes.
The perception of time, space and causation as demarcated, finishes.
All is one, in one.
Sakticakra is the collective ‘ Everythingness’ . Samhara is to withdraw, to re -absorb into oneself. Therefore, the essence of the Bhairava experience is that everything, including the Universe, time, space, causation, is not separate from the Self.
So too, one can imagine when Shiva gets into His massive Udhyamo, He has nothing but praise for His eternal beloved, Devi...
And the Lord saluted Devi, saying
you,
are mine own God…
Aum Namah Shivaye.
