THE FOUR PATHS
We have been talking of consciousness, of Divinity, of God.
All beings, at the center of their hearts, wish to see God, to meet God, to be close to God. And sooner or later they come to this realization, that the meeting with God is indeed a great goal to define the very purpose of their life. Actually the Rishis and Munis right from the time of the Vedas and Upanishads have always been telling us that this is the purpose of all of Life. Man is born, he dies, born again, again he dies. The ancient seers of India who had great reason to believe in reincarnation of the soul in many different bodies, did maintain that the purpose of this soul remains the same in all its lives: to meet God.
And they did not just leave us guessing and wandering in the dark, they devised many methods to embark on this great journey, that finally arrives at the doorstep of the eternal beloved, the Master of masters, the Lord of all, God. This was done over the period of many lifetimes , of many meditators, of many experiences and discussions , duly discussed and introspected, and then recorded for the sake of later generations.
God is Infinite. He has innumerable attributes. So too, the ways to Him are too many to be listed. The Rishis, therefore charted out the Four main paths- Karma, Bhakti, Gyan and Dhyan.
