Shiva, Dakshinmurty

Shivji is Adi Guru - the primordial teacher. One who sat "facing south and taught spirituality without charging a fee" While the rishis fold their hands in gratitude, the dwarf under his foot is a symbol of the ego ; an individual's ego is what makes him ignorant of one's own Divine nature....thus making apparent separations from the Universal. I took this picture a few years ago on tour at the Nimrana resort, near Alwar, a few miles away from Gurgaon. interestingly, the reflections of the camera flash while taking the photo seems so much like a mystic transmission to the saptrishis!
