When will I live the life of pleasure, meditating on Shiva..........

"Kada nilampa nirjaree nikunja kotare vasan,
Vimuktha durmathee sada sirasthanjaleem vahan,
Vilola lola lochano lalama bhala lagnaka,
Shivethi manthamucharan kada sukhee bhavamyaham"
When will I live the life of pleasure, meditating on Shiva, Sitting near a hollow place near the celestial river Ganga, Releasing all my bad thoughts and with hands clasped above my head, After releasing all passion for the pretty women with shifting eyes? ~ Ravana in Shiva Tandava Stotra. Ravana wrote this stotra in praise of Shiva and his Tandava, vigorous manly style of dancing. Shiva Tandava stotra is about Shiva while in the act of dancing. Shiva Tandava Stotra which is so majestic was composed by none other than Ravana who was one of the great devotees of Shiva. Once Ravana tried to uproot Mount Kailash. He was Shiva's great devotee, though as he always was as much arrogant and claimed to be the greatest, hence expected special treatment from Shiva and claimed daily 'Darshana' of his Lord. When he started uprooting the mountain with his twenty hands, Parvati trembled and embraced Shiva. Then Shiva pressed down the mountain with his thumb of his foot which not only settled the kailash at its placed but also suppressed arrogant Ravana. Ravana cried for mercy. Trapped beneath for thousand years, the imprisoned Ravana sang SamaVeda and Shiva Tandava Stotra composed by him in praise of Shiva. Ravana cut off one of his heads and built a veena from it. He used his tendons for the strings and began singing praises of Shiva. The pleased Shiva bestowed a powerful linga or an invincible sword, his symbol, to be worshipped by Ravana at Lanka! Bum Bum Bhole ~ Jai Shiva Shankar!
