Happy Mandala Pooja Festival to all devotees...
Swami Saranam....
Sannidhanam gets ready for Mandala Pooja… The pooja on the last day of Mandalam (41 days period ) is known as “Mandala Pooja” and it will be held on December 27th 2015, Sunday . The MandalaPooja will be held by adorning Swamy Ayyappan’s idol with “Thanka Anki” (Golden attire) which is brought in a procession from the famous Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy Temple. The auspicious Mandala Pooja ceremony, after adorning the Thanka Anki on the idol of Lord Ayyappa, will be held between 11.03 and 11.40 am. The “Thanka Anki”, weighing 420 Soverigns, was presented to the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple by the late Chithira Thirunaal Balarama Varma of Travancore royal dynasty as his offering to Ayyappa Swami, way back in 1973. Since then, the Travancore Devaswom has made it a custom to take it to Sabarimala in a ceremonial procession for adorning the Ayyappa Swamy’s divine idol with it for the auspicious “Mandala-puja”. The Thanka Anki which is received by Thantri and Melsanthi in front of the Sreekovil and Swamy Ayyappa’s divine idol will be decorated with this sacred golden attire prior to the Mandalapuja.
In connection with the ritual, the thantri will conduct “Brahmakalasa pooja” at the Mandapam of the temple at 9.30 am in the presence of the melsanthi. “Kalabahbhishekam” would be the special ritual on the idol of the Lord Ayyappa during Uchcha pooja by the thantri. The ritual will conclude with the Kalabhabhishekam on the idol after the procession carrying the Brahmakalasam led by the thantri and melsanthi circumambulating Bhagavan’s Sreekovil….
Sabarimala Sannidhanam will be closed after Athazha pooja and Harivarasanam marking the culmination of the 41-day Mandalam festival. The temple reopens on 30th December 2015 , Friday for annual Makara Vilakku Mahotsavam Festival. The Makaravilakku Mahotsavam is on January 15th 2016.
