Thanga Angi procession is the journey carrying the ornaments that is worn by Lord Ayyappa on the Mandala Pooja day at the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple. The deeparadhana (evening prayer) performed with Thanga Anki is held on the 40th day, the penultimate day before the culmination of the 41-day Mandala Pooja. The procession starts from the Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy Temple four days prior to the Mandala Pooja day.
Thanga Angi means the Golden Attire – the Golden Attire of Lord Ayyappa, weighs 450 Sovereigns of gold. It was offered to Lord Ayyappa by Sri Chithira Thirunal, erstwhile Maharaja of Travancore, in 1973.
