Trishul has great significance in Hindu Religion , it is in the hands of almost all the deities but it's significance is even more when it is held by Lord Shiva. The three prongs of Trishul represents trinity ~ Shri Brahma , Shri Vishnu , and Shri Mahesh. Maa Saraswati , Maa lakshami and Maa kaali. The 3 modes of nature –creation, maintenance and destruction. The 3 kaala ~ past, present and future. The 3 Gunas ~ sat , raj , tamas. The 3 lokas ~ swarg , bhu and patal . The 3 powers ~ will , action and wisdom . The 3 types of miseries ~ physical , menatal and spiritual. Lord Shiva’s Trishul is supposed to destroy the physical world, attachment to gross the illusionary world which seems so real ; the world of the mind ~ the ahamkaar or ego which is a barrier between Me and HIM ; thus transforms to be in the third world that is the world of spirituality –thus leads to oneness Shiva into a single non-dual plane of existence, that is bliss alone.
Almost every Hindu is familiar with the Damaru also, because it is such a constant part of Shiva. Shiva is also called Damarudhari. Traditionally, it is used by the Kapalikas, ancient sect of Shaivism, and Tantik Sadhus and Babas, who worship Shiva. They use it to announce their presence, or to attract attention. Shiva is the progenitor of all sounds, languages, music, and vibrations in creation. The damaru symbolizes his connection with them. The two triangles in the damaru represent the Purusha and Prakrithi, and their union, which results in creation, movement, speech and sounds. When they are separated, everything comes to a standstill, and the mind lapses into total silence. In another interpretation, Damaru symbolises the embodied soul, who is helplessly caught in the play of Shiva and moves according to his will and force. He is active as long as Shiva moves his hands, but goes into rest when he is withdrawn. The two triangles in the damaru represent the mind and the body, while the chord represents the twin states of birth and death, to which it is bound. Just as the being is bound to the cycle of births and deaths, the damaru is bound to the chord.!
