The month of Shravan begins 10 July until 7 August. Shravan is the fifth month of the Hindu calendar, and is one of the holiest months. The month is called Shravan because the full moon in this month falls in the Shravana nakshatra. This holy month is dedicated to Lord Shiva and contains many religious festivals and ceremonies making this and extremely auspicious month.
Many hindus fast for the entire month living on fruit, nuts and milk during day and breaking the fast with a vegetarian meal after sunset. Mondays or Somvars of Shravan month are especially observed with austerity and women generally fast on this day. All Mondays are devoted to the worship of Shiva as this day is sacred to Lord Shiva. No other Mondays of other months are so greatly honoured. Whole month is considered auspicious to seek blessing of Lord Shiva. Devotees keep various fasts during Shravan/ Sawan month to please Lord Shiva. πŸŒ™πŸŒΉπŸ‚πŸŒ™πŸŒΉπŸŒΌπŸƒπŸ‚πŸŒΌπŸŒΉπŸŒ™
