Lord Vishnu devotees observe a vrat on the eleventh day of the Lunar fortnight, and this fasting is referred to as Ekadashi Vrat. The Ekadashi, which is observed in Shukla Paksha during the month of Shravan is known as Putrada Ekadashi. Ekadashi is celebrated across the country and Iskon followers who live abroad also celebrate it with great enthusiasm. This year, Shravan Putrada Ekadashi is observed on Monday, 8th August, 2022.
Devotees offer Panchamrit (Milk, Curd, Sugar (Boora), Honey and Ghee) along with Tulsi Patra to please Lord Vishnu and without offering Tulsi Patra, pooja is considered to be incomplete.
Shravan Putrada Ekadashi is mainly observed by married couple. It is believed that those, who are childless and desire to have a male child, must observe this fast as this Ekadashi is considered to be so powerful for getting the desired wish fulfillment.
The term 'Putrada' states as Putra means Son and Ada means 'giver' means the Ekadashi, which is the giver of son so the devotees, who observe this miraculous fast by full devotion and dedication, Lord Vishnu bless them with all the desired wishes and brings the unimaginable changes in the life of his devotees.
Shravan Putrada Ekadashi Vrat bestow good health, wealth, fortune, prosperity and protection of Lord Vishnu to all the devotees. Not even married couple but anyone can observe fast on Shravan Putrada Ekadashi irrespective of age and gender.
Shravan Putrada Ekadashi holds a great religious significance among Hindus as this is the sacred month of Shravan which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and people worship Lord Shiva in this holy month. This Shravan Putrada Ekadashi is observed in chaturmaas and it is believed that Lord Vishnu sleeps in 'Ksheer Sagar' for 4 months of period so in these 4 months, devotees worship Lord Krishna on this auspicious day of Ekadashi and offer prayers to him.
