TRIADS OF SHIVA
A beautiful painting with Lord Shiva as the mendicant.
In one hand, He prominently holds a Damru. Note how the strings of this hourglass shaped drum are forming the curves of AUM,
symbolic of Shiva being the creator, maintainer and
re -absorber. In another hand is His portable flask, and in the upper hand He holds esoteric notes, to share scriptural knowledge with others.
The long trident is his hallmark- Besides being a weapon, it symbolises the triad of Shiva's systems, such as :
Shiva Shakti and nara,
Pati Pasa and pasu,
The absolute, the intermediate, and the manifest.
Iccha Gyan Kriya,
The three Gunas,The three worlds,
Past , present, future ,
and so on.
