Sri Brahmmapureeswarar Temple (Tirupattur)

Sri Brahmmapureeswarar Temple (Tirupattur)

History of Sri Brahmmapureeswarar Temple (Tirupattur)
Brahmma got the creation rights from Lord Shiva. With a view to give Brahmma equal status, Lord Shiva gave him five heads as He had. Brahmma became proud of this position. Shiva took off one head. Brahmma also lost his creation job. Brhamma sought relief and apologized for his folly.
Lord Shiva advised Brahmma to go to Tirupattur on Earth and worship Him with 12 Lingas (Dwadasalingas) and offered relief. As Lord Shiva changed Brahmma’s own bad destiny, he was advised to so in the case of devotees. As Brahmma worshipped Shiva here, the Lord is named Brahmmapureeswarar. Mother Goddess is named Brahmmanayaki or Brahmma Sampath Gouri.
Speciality of Temple
Those facing problem in concluding marriage alliance, separated couple, businessmen aspiring developments pray to Lord Brahmma. The main prayer is for child boon. The temple is noted for worship seeking child boon.

Annamalaiyar Temple----Thiruvannamalai ------Tamil Nadu

Photo: -----Annamalaiyar Temple----Thiruvannamalai ------Tamil Nadu

Annamalaiyar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva, located at the base of Annamalai hills in the town of Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, India. It is significant to the Hindu sect of Saivism as one of the temples associated with the five elements, the Pancha Bhoota Stalas, and specifically the element of fire, or Agni. Shiva is worshiped as Annamalaiyar or Arunachaleswarar, and is represented by the lingam, with his idol referred to as Agni lingam. His consort Parvati is depicted as Unnamulai Amman. The presiding deity is revered in the 7th century Tamil Saiva canonical work, the Tevaram, written by Tamil saint poets known as the nayanars and classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam. The 9th century Saiva saint poet Manikkavasagar composed the Tiruvempaavai here.
The present masonry structure was built during the Chola dynasty in the 9th century, while later expansions are attributed to Vijayanagar rulers of the Sangama Dynasty (1336–1485 CE), the Saluva Dynasty and the Tuluva Dynasty (1491–1570 CE).
--------------------------Legend-------------------------------------
In Hindu mythology, Parvati, wife of Shiva, once closed the eyes of her husband playfully in a flower garden at their abode atop Mount Kailash. Although only a moment for the gods, all light was taken from the universe, and the earth, in turn, was submerged in darkness for years. Parvati performed penance with other devotees of Shiva, and her husband appeared as a column of fire at the top of Annamalai hills, returning light to the world. He then merged with Parvati to form Ardhanarishvara, the half-female, half-male form of Shiva. The Annamalai, or red mountain, lies behind the Annamalaiyar temple, and is associated with the temple of its namesake. The hill is sacred and considered a lingam, or iconic representation of Shiva, in itself

Why We Indians Eat Food With Our Hands ?

Photo: Why We Indians Eat Food With Our Hands ?

Our hands and feet are said to be the conduits of the five elements. The Ayurvedic texts teach that each finger is an extension of one of the five elements. Through the thumb comes space; through the forefinger, air; through the mid-finger, fire; through the ring finger, water and through the little finger it is earth.

Each finger aids in the transformation of food, before it passes on to internal digestion. Gathering the fingertips as they touch the food stimulates the five elements and invites Agni to bring forth the digestive juices. As well as improving digestion the person becomes more conscious of the tastes, textures and smells of the foods they are eating, which all adds to the pleasure of eating.

You may have noticed that elders in the family hardly ever use utensils to measure all the different type of masala, and would instead prefer to use their hands to measure the quantity instead. As each handful is tailored to provide a suitable amount for the own body. Overall there are 6 main documented forms that the hands take when obtaining a measurement a certain type of food ranging from solid food to seeds, and flour.

This is a prime example of how many things within Hindu culture may seem weird and unusual at first glance, but once a closer look is taken it is surprising, but a vast amount of knowledge is revealed.

Bring out the Divine qualities in the people around you; take this as your mission.

Guruji, in the last few years many people have spoken about the planet’s entry into the fourth dimension. What can you say about this?

Photo: Q: Guruji, in the last few years many people have spoken about the planet’s entry into the fourth dimension. What can you say about this?

Guruji : Until you know any dimension right here, don’t be swayed away by all this talk. It is just a way to create a thrill.
It is like when people asked me several hundred thousand times about the Earth coming to an end in Dec 2012. Oh god! Wherever I went, I heard the Earth is going to come to an end.
I said, 'Not really, everything will be as usual'.
People started storing milk powder and groceries for 6-months in their basement, thinking that everything will shut down.
These are little thrills that people like to have, and so they bring out such fantasies time and again. Know that all dimensions are right here, don’t worry and be happy.

Trust

Photo: Trust :

One needs to have trust in oneself, trust in the goodness of society, and trust in the unseen power, the Divinity which is all permeating. These three types of trust is essential and that is what spirituality is all about. Start trusting yourself, start trusting in the goodness of people around you, and in the Divinity. That is the whole essence.

Eklingji Lord Shiva Temple --Udaipur-- Rajasthan

Photo: ---------Eklingji Lord Shiva Temple --Udaipur-- Rajasthan ----------

Eklingji is a Hindu temple complex in Udaipur District of Rajasthan in western India. Eklingji is believed to be the ruling deity of Mewar Princely State and the Ruler Maharana rules as his Dewan.
Begun in 971, the temple complex was built by the Guhila (later called Sesodia) dynasty of Mewar, in honor of their presiding deity Eklingji, a form of Lord Shiva. The beautifully sculpted temple complex includes 108 temples within its high walls. The main temple, which dates to the 15th century, was rebuilt from the ruins of an earlier destroyed temple. The walled complex is made of marble and granite and has an enormous double-storied, elaborately pillared hall or "mandap" under a vast pyramidal roof, with a four-faced image of Lord Shiva in black marble. Another temple in the complex is the Lakulish Temple; built in 971, it is the only temple of the Lakulish sect in the whole of India. The Eklingji temple is surrounded by long walls of hard rock. This fascinating temple was built in 734 A.D. Dating back to AD 734 or thereabouts, the temple complex draws a steady stream of tantrik worshipers almost throughout the year..
There are other ancient temples near Eklingji, such another Shiva Temple that was built in the time of Maharana Raimal between 1473 and 1509.

Shivji is Bholenath. He is the King of Kings , yet he does not keep a Darbar. His time with His ganas and his family is the holiest assembly. Shiv Parivar IS the shiv Darbar!
In this beautiful painting made by Jammu based Temple artist Devdas, whos beautiful work adorns the Famous Ranbireshwar Mandir ,Shivji enjoys a private moment with His family. Parvati ji and Kartikeya ji watch Ganeshji having fun and dancing for His parents. He is playing with the Mala and kamandalu. This shows that even the act of divinity is a mere play for Him because he is Janm siddha( Born Divine). Kartikeyaji sitting alongside His parents and watching the show indicates that He is the elder child .The mood is one brimming with Bliss and therefore full of blessings. Shivji happy with His family is the greatest benefaction the at the entire Universe can have, the most positive vibes get generated to all.

Pure Energy Is God

Photo: Pure Energy Is God :

Remember to love unconditionally and forgive unconditionally, and you will not accumulate any karma; you will not accumulate any past. You will not accumulate any bondage around you, and you will not have any barriers to your vision.

Once barriers disappear from vision, godliness is everywhere. If you can forgive and love then you will find it everywhere. You can’t see God in the sinner because you can’t forgive him. Once you start forgiving, the distinction between sinner and saint is lost; the distinction between good and bad disappears. There are no more distinctions; you start seeing the one, the distinctionless. There is no man, no woman, no black, no white, no Indian, no foreigner. There is pure energy, and that pure energy is God.

Now is the time to live, now is the moment to enjoy

Photo: Now is the time to live, now is the moment to enjoy :

There is a difference between being childlike and being treated like a child. In a way, if you do not start living for yourself, this world will never let you graduate from your school. It will treat you as a child — forever telling you what is good or bad for you, feeding you with what it thinks is right for you. I hope you have had the time to reflect on how precious your life is. The difference between life and death is just that one breath, just one moment. You inhale but do not exhale, that is death. You exhale and do not inhale again, that is death. All those infinite possibilities you could be exploring, flying several thousand feet up from the ground or being six feet under, it mostly depends on that one moment, between breathing versus not-breathing. If you are waiting for the work to finish, if you simply have to tick off a few items before you start being yourself, I am afraid such a moment will never come. I am not suggesting you run away from your responsibilities but if saying Yes to life is your priority, there are opportunities waiting for you. Now is the time to live, now is the moment to enjoy.

Desireless Action

Photo: Desireless Action :

Scriptures and spiritual writers use the metaphor of sowing live and roasted seeds. Desireless action is like a roasted seed – it can never germinate. On the other hand, action with some conscious or unconscious desire is like a “live” seed that will sprout into a tree bearing fruits of karma that will, in turn, have further live seeds. Thus, the karmic cycle perpetuates due to desires.
That is why Krishna advises us in the Bhagwad Gita, verse 2:47 -- ‘Karmanyewadhikaraste, ma phaleshu kadachan’ -- You have a right only to perform an action and not a right to its fruit.

Desireless Action :

We give importance to things which are not worthy of importance. We give too much importance to things which are temporary and fleeting which are not going to stay. They all come and they go. That is why it is called Mahamaya.

Ways of chanting the Panchakshari

Photo: Fire is His head, the sun and moon His eyes, space His ears, the Vedas His speech, the wind His breath, the universe His heart. From His feet the Earth has originated. Verily, He is the inner Self of all beings.

Ways of chanting the Panchakshari

While many mantras have restrictions as to when and how it can be chanted etc., there is no such restriction to the panchAkshara mantra. The great prodigy sambandhar says in thEvAram, "When you sleep as well as when you do not sleep, think of the Holy Five Syllables with heartful of devotion ! This is the mantra that terribly kicked out the death when chanted (by mArkaNDeya) with sincerity."

Whoever you are, whenever be the time, whatever be the situation chant the Holy Five Syllables. There are no restrictions of color, creed, caste, gender or any other restrictions. All it requires is sincerity.

The Holy Five Syllables (Letters) are the Shivagamas as well as the precious vedas provided by the Supreme.

PRAYER: anjchezuththE Agamamum aNNal arumaRaiyum
anjchezuththE Adhi purANam anaiththum - anjchezuththE
Anan-thath thANdavamum ARARukku appAlAm
mOnan-tha mAmuththi yum.

MEANING:The Holy Five Syllables (Letters) are the Shivagamas
as well as the precious vedas provided by the Supreme.
The Holy Five Letters are the complete primary puranas.
The Holy Five Letters are the Blissful Dance and
the ultimate-silent-great-liberation transcending the 36 (tattvas).

Lord Shiva Grace irrespective of the caste, creed, race, power, status and qualities

Photo: Lord shiva is the Supreme, Which does not have any parents Which never takes birth Which is all alone without association with any of the creatures or creations enjoying in the Self. God is the only one Who is dependable for anybody / anything to surrender to as It is the only perennial Being. Hence God is the Lord of all creatures (lives/souls). For this reason the Lord is hailed as pashupati (Lord of living beings). Whether it is devas or asuras or humans or other creatures all are pashus. That being the case how could the Lord be partial to one section of pashus and withdrawing the Grace for the other ? So anybody who worships the Lord sincerely could get blessed with Its Grace irrespective of the caste, creed, race, power, status and qualities

Jambukeswarar Temple--- Tiruchirapalli ----Tamil Nadu

Photo: -------Jambukeswarar Temple--- Tiruchirapalli ----Tamil Nadu-----

This well visited Shivastalam located in the vicinity of Tiruchirappalli and Srirangam This is one of the most revered temples to Shiva; it is one of the Panchabhoota Stalams signifying the 5 elements of wind (Kalahasti), water (Tiruvanaikka), fire (Tiruvannamalai), earth (Kanchipuram) and space (Chidambaram). The primordial element water, is represented by an undying natural spring in the sanctum. The saptastanams of this temple are Tiruchendurai, Tirupparaitturai, Tiruppainneeli, Tiruppaachilasramam, Tiruvedikkudi and Tiruvalaindurai.
Legends: There is said to have been a forest of Jambu trees near the Chandrateertha tank (filled with the water of the Kaveri) here and Shiva is said to have appeared under one of the trees as a Shiva Lingam. Legend has it that two devotees of Shiva were born under the influence of a curse as a white elephant and a spider. The elephant worshipped Shiva with flowers and water brought in its trunk (hence the name Tiru Aanaikka).

The spider worshipped the Lingam by spinning a web on top, to protect it from falling leaves. The elephants worship would destroy the spiders web, and the spiders web amounted to desecration in the eyes of the elephant leading to animosity between the two, of such proportion that a fight between them resulted in the death of both.

The spider was born again in the royal Chola family (in Uraiyur - during the Sangam period). An interesting tale is associated with his birth. His parents Subhadeva and Kamalavati prayed to Nataraja of Chidambaram for a male successor. The royal astrologer is said to have predicted an auspicious time for the birth of a successor who would be a ruler of great fame. The hour of birth approached sooner though and the royal queen bade her attendants to tie her legs and hang her upside down, with the aim of delaying the birth of the child. She achieved her objective although the royal offspring was born with reddened eyes, earning for himself the name 'Chenkannan' - the red eyed one. In his life time Ko Chenkannan is said to have been built several elevated temples - out of reach of elephants, keeping with the legend of his animosity with an elephant in his previous birth.

The stala vriksham is said to have grown out of a munivar, who offered his worship to Shiva.Akhilandeswari (Parvati) is said to have meditated upon Shiva here, and her shrine here, is considered to be of great significance.

It is believed that Akhilandeswari was originally an Ugra Devata of great fury, and Adi Sankaracharyar is said to have converted the fiery energy of the deity into a manifestation of peace. Shrines to Vinayaka and Subramanya face Akhilandeswari.

This extraordinarily beautiful pose of Lord Shiva and parvati makes us think!!!!!!!!!

Photo: This extraordinarily beautiful pose of Lord Shiva and parvati makes us think:
Before all of creation, Siva and sakti are joined in perfect repose, called Parasamvit, and portrayed as the Ardhanarishwara.
Then, after the subtle stir of vibration, 'spanda" when Siva 'distances' sakti from Himself , so as to emanate the manifest world, they are still attached!
and the whole Lila (play) is for Her to close up to Him , all over again...
Parasamvit and spanda are technical terms from the shaiva esoteric darsana:

Serpent is the Jiva or the individual soul which rests upon Siva, the Paramatman or the Supreme Soul.

Serpent is the Jiva or the individual soul which rests upon Siva, the Paramatman or the Supreme Soul. The five hoods mean the five senses or the five Tattvas, viz., earth, water, fire, air and ether. They also represent the five Pranas, which hiss in the body like the serpent. The inhalation and exhalation are like the hissing of the serpent. Lord Siva Himself became the five Tanmatras, the five Jnanendriyas, the five Karmendriyas and other groups of five. The individual soul enjoys the worldly objects through these Tattvas. When the individual attains knowledge through control of the senses and the mind, he finds his eternal resting abode in Lord Siva, the Supreme Soul. This is the esoteric significance of Lord Siva wearing the snake on His body

What is the role of religion in day to day life?

Photo: Q : What is the role of religion in day to day life?

Guruji : Religion is supposed to provide much-needed inner strength, hope, courage and an insight to the life hereafter. Also, religion is a binding force which cuts across geographical and racial boundaries.

Usually religion is by birth and continues to influence till the end. Your name and all the ceremonies until your burial or cremation are determined by your religion. The communist effort of keeping religion away has not worked well either. Religion by itself is not bad - contrary to communist thinking. It is the fanaticism and extremism that religion has given birth to that is dangerous to human society. You cannot avoid religion, but in spirituality you rise above and become a good human being.

The Secret Of Creation

Photo: The Secret Of Creation :

The secret of Creation is evident from the description of the form of Siva. The crescent moon on Sivas head symbolizes the consciousness in human beings, the Ganga symbolizes the Life Force and the snakes on Sivas body represent the myriad of living beings. He resides on a silver mountain. His dearest friend is Kubera, the Lord of Wealth. Despite being endowed with all these, why was He obliged to carry the begging bowl? To demonstrate to the world that every kind of wealth is a hindrance to spiritual advancement, Siva renounced everything. It is through renunciation Siva became the eternal embodiment of supreme bliss.

Vacuum In Wisdom

Photo: Vacuum In Wisdom :

The biggest collateral damage of this vacuum in wisdom is to the religions and their propagators. It makes them look small and mean. For example, the myopic interpretation of the biblical statement that the gate to heaven can only be reached through ‘me’ that equates Jesus with the physical body that was symbolically crucified on the cross makes the messiah look like a partial mortal who discriminated among people. The vision to see the all-encompassing presence of Jesus beyond the physical body is missing. The church doesn’t tell the Christian world that the body that was crucified was sent just to give a glimpse of the Universal Spirit.

During my travels in tribal-dominated areas where a large number of people from indigenous faiths are converting to Christianity, I often come across priests who talk about Jesus being angry with people who don’t accept Christianity. They talk about how Jesus will withhold his blessings from those who mingle with or eat together with people of other faiths. It’s blasphemy to cast Jesus, who is an epitome of love, in such a demeaning manner. It appears nobody is listening to Jesus’ declaration: “Me and my father are One.”
