A FAMILY SCENE
One of my favourite depictions of Shiva parvati. Parvati is handing Shiva his bhang, as the children (kartikeya and ganesa) play inside the tent..
The skins they wear are possibly symbolic of the role play in wedded life..the tiger and the doe..this is the enigma of parvati, she's the demure wife, till she has occasion to remind shiva that she is , after all, Durga, Goddess of power....
Altogether the ancient indian artist depicted very beautifully that at the end of the day, all beings want just happiness in their family. If it is a happy home, even a little tent will do.The children will be happy when they realise that the parents are perfectly in joyous balance, and conversely the parents can sit back and relax when they know the children are happy and playful together.
God is no exception: He wants all the children to be playful in this home tent which is the little planet we live on.Earth is no bigger than a little tent on this immense Universe, but Lord Shiva chooses this humble tent as his abode!! His Heaven is not in the distant sky but here on the Ground with us.! Aum Namah Shivaya!
