"I am dear to all beings, and they are dear to me. I protect them, as they seek me!!" ~ Lord Narasimha Dev is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu that appeared to protect his young devotee Prahlada. He appeared as half-man half-lion and killed the envious, atheistic demon, Hiranyakashipu who was materialism personified (hiran-gold, kasipu-soft bed). Devotees pray to Lord Narasimha Dev for protection and to kill their material desires. Shri Vishnu assumed this form on top of Himvat mountain. He is known primarily as the 'Great Protector' and 'Care Taker' who specifically defends and protects his devotees in times of need. Shri Vishnu is believed to have taken the avatar to destroy the demon king Hiranyakashipu. Due to the nature of Narasiṁha's form (divine anger), it is essential that worship be given with a very high level of attention compared to other deities. In many temples only lifelong celibates, Brahmāchārya, will be able to have the chance to serve as priests to perform the daily puja. Forms where Narasimha appears sitting in a yogic posture, or with the goddess Lakṣhmi are the exception to this rule, as Narasimha is taken as being more relaxed in both of these instances compared to his form when first emerging from pillar to protect Prahlada!! Jai Shri Narasimha Dev Ji ~ Jai Shri Vishnu!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
