In yogic culture Lord Shiva is not known as a God, but as the first Guru or the Adi Guru. He is the first Yogi. Out of his realisation, he became ecstatic and danced all over the mountains or sat absolutely still. He was constantly into bouts of stillness and bouts of dancing. All the gods who saw him, saw something was happening to him that they themselves did not know. When they finally got him to teach the method, Shiva expounded various types of yogas. The first part of Shiva's teaching was to Parvati. It was taught in a certain intimacy. In great detail, and in very gentle ways, Shiva expounded the ways of yoga to Devi. The second set of yogic teaching was expounded to the Sapta Rishis, or the first seven sages. When we use the word yoga, you should not think of twisting your body or holding your breath. We are talking about the very science of creation and how to take this piece of creation (you) to its ultimate possibility. We are looking at gaining mastery over the fundamental processes of life; the very process of creation and dissolution. It doesn't matter at what level of evolution a person is right now, for him also, there is a way. For every being on the planet, there is a certain way that is the advantage of yoga. This teaching happened on the banks of Kanti Sarovar, near Kedarnath. Shiva is the Adi Guru, from whom yoga originated. In his teachings, Lord Shiva does not give any philosophical explanations, but instead gives very direct instructions on the methods to liberation. Siva Sutras and Vighyana Bhairava Tantra are popular texts that contain specific techniques to liberate the embodied soul from the limitations of the body and mind and experience his true blissful nature. 📿🌀🕉🌀📿 Jai Adiyogi ~ Jai Bholenath! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

You grieve for those whom you should not grieve for.

"You grieve for those whom you should not grieve for. You grieve in vain. While speaking learned words, you are mourning for what is not worthy of grief. Those who are wise lament neither for the living nor the dead." ~ Shri Krishna ‪🍃🐚🍃Namaste Beautiful Souls. It's time for Friday Wisdom. 🌿🌀🌿Yes, Reflect on these words and It will keep worry, fear, and anxiety away from you. The world is somebody's creation. We are all somebody's creation. He who created us - not our earthly father, knows how to protect us. The wheat of which was prepared the bread you ate this morning, grew some time ago, at His bidding. He knows our needs long before they arise. We need not be anxious at all, knowing that God is omnipresent - is everywhere, omniscient - knows everything, and omnipotent - can do anything. We need not be anxious, therefore, that He is not here to protect us, that He does not know our problems, or that He may not be able to help us. "Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be." He is the maintainer of innumerable living beings, in terms of their different situations according to individual work. He is alive in the heart of every living being. One who can see, within and without, the same Supreme Lord, can actually attain to perfect and eternal peace.! Don't cloud your mind with fear and worries, give them to him, offer your sufferings to him, he will take care for he cares for you! Love, Blessings & Peace! The S'rîmad Devî Bhâgawatam-The First Book-Chapter 4-12
THE FIRST BOOK
Chapter IV
On the excellency of the Devî
51-54. I am always subservient to that Maha S’akti; (under Her command) I am engaged in Tapasyâ for a long time; (By Her command) some time I enjoy with Lakshmî; some time I fight battles, terrible to all the Lokas, with the Dânavas, involving great bodily troubles. O Knower of Dharma! It was before Your presence that I fought hand to hand fight for five thousand years before Your sight on that one great ocean
12
in long-past days with the two demons Madhu and Kaitabha, sprung from the wax of my ear, maddened with pride; and by the grace of the Devî, successfully killed the two Dânavas.
55-61. O highly fortunate one! you realised then the great S’akti, higher than the highest and the cause of all causes; then why are you asking again and again that question. By the will of that S’akti, I have got this idea of man and roam on the great ocean; in yuga after yuga, I assume by Her will, the Tortoise, Boar, Man-Lion, and Dwarf incarnations. No one likes to take birth in the womb of inferior animals (especially birds). Do you think that I willingly take unpleasant births as in the womb of boars, tortoise, i.e., certainly not. What independent man is there who abandons the pleasurable enjoyment with Laksmi and takes birth in inferior animals as fish, etc. or leaves his seat on the seat of Gaduda and becomes engaged in great war-conflicts. O Svayambhu! In ancient days you saw before your eyes that my head was cut off when the bowstring suddenly gave way; and then you, brought a horse's head and by that help, the divine artist Visvakarma, stuck that on to my headless body. O Brahmâ! Since then I am known amongst men by the name of “Hayagrîva”. This is well-known to you. Now say, were I independent, would such an ignominy have happened to me? Never. Therefore I am not independent; I am in every way under that S’akti. O Lotus-born! I always meditate on that S’akti; and I do not know any other than this S’akti”.
62-66. Nârada said :-- Thus spoke Visnu to Brahmâ. O Muni Vedavyâs! Brahmâ spoke these to me. So you, too, better meditate the lotus feet of Bhâgavati calmly in the lotus of your heart for the success of your idea. That Devî will give you all that you wish. Sûta said :-- At these words of Nârada, Satyavati's son Veda Vyâsa went out to the hills for Tapasyâ, trusting the lotus feet of the Devî as the all-in-all in this world.
Thus ends the fourth chapter of the first Skandha on the excellency of the Devî in the Mahapurâna S’rimad Devî Bhâgavatam of 18,000 verses.

Sebastian Kraves: The era of personal DNA testing is here-2
This ability to make copies of DNA, as simple as it sounds, has transformed our world. Scientists use it every day to detect and address disease, to create innovative medicines, to modify foods, to assess whether our food is safe to eat or whether it's contaminated with deadly bacteria. Even judges use the output of these machines in court to decide whether someone is innocent or guilty based on DNA evidence. The inventor of this DNA-copying technique was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1993. But for 30 years, the power of genetic analysis has been confined to the ivory tower, or bigwig PhD scientist work. Well, several companies around the world are working on making this same technology accessible to everyday people like the pig farmer, like you.
I cofounded one of these companies. Three years ago, together with a fellow biologist and friend of mine, Zeke Alvarez Saavedra, we decided to make personal DNA machines that anyone could use. Our goal was to bring DNA science to more people in new places. We started working in our basements. We had a simple question: What could the world look like if everyone could analyze DNA? We were curious, as curious as you would have been if I had shown you this picture in 1980.
You would have thought, "Wow! I can now call my Aunt Glenda from the car and wish her a happy birthday. I can call anyone, anytime. This is the future!" Little did you know, you would tap on that phone to make dinner reservations for you and Aunt Glenda to celebrate together. With another tap, you'd be ordering her gift. And yet one more tap, and you'd be "liking" Auntie Glenda on Facebook. And all of this, while sitting on the toilet.
It is notoriously hard to predict where new technology might take us. And the same is true for personal DNA technology today.
For example, I could never have imagined that a truffle farmer, of all people, would use personal DNA machines. Dr. Paul Thomas grows truffles for a living. We see him pictured here, holding the first UK-cultivated truffle in his hands, on one of his farms. Truffles are this delicacy that stems from a fungus growing on the roots of living trees. And it's a rare fungus. Some species may fetch 3,000, 7,000, or more dollars per kilogram. I learned from Paul that the stakes for a truffle farmer can be really high. When he sources new truffles to grow on his farms, he's exposed to the threat of knockoffs -- truffles that look and feel like the real thing, but they're of lower quality. But even to a trained eye like Paul's, even when looked at under a microscope, these truffles can pass for authentic. So in order to grow the highest quality truffles, the ones that chefs all over the world will fight over, Paul has to use DNA analysis. Isn't that mind-blowing? I bet you will never look at that black truffle risotto again without thinking of its genes.
But personal DNA machines can also save human lives. Professor Ian Goodfellow is a virologist at the University of Cambridge. Last year he traveled to Sierra Leone. When the Ebola outbreak broke out in Western Africa, he quickly realized that doctors there lacked the basic tools to detect and combat disease. Results could take up to a week to come back -- that's way too long for the patients and the families who are suffering. Ian decided to move his lab into Makeni, Sierra Leone. Here we see Ian Goodfellow moving over 10 tons of equipment into a pop-up tent that he would equip to detect and diagnose the virus and sequence it within 24 hours. But here's a surprise: the same equipment that Ian could use at his lab in the UK to sequence and diagnose Ebola, just wouldn't work under these conditions. We're talking 35 Celsius heat and over 90 percent humidity here. But instead, Ian could use personal DNA machines small enough to be placed in front of the air-conditioning unit to keep sequencing the virus and keep saving lives.

The Journey of Life-3
Like other emotions, contentment has to be cultivated in our consciousness. Anytime you step out, you will find people with better homes, cars, bodies, talents and wealth. They are all around you. When you see them, you may feel jealous, envious or inspired. Either way, it makes your present look lackluster. I’m not saying that anyone should sit idle and twiddle their thumbs. Each one of us is free to chase whatever matters to us. Having said that, every pursuit has a cost.
Contentment sprouts from mindful living, a sense that I don’t have to do something just because others are doing it. If you are not able to live in the present moment and find beauty in it, future is not going to be any better. For future is nothing more than present moments unfolding. My past in the afternoon was my future in the morning.
Life is like a river, ever changing, ever flowing. You can step into it again and again, thinking you are bathing in the same river. It is anything but true. The water that was there earlier is no longer there. Every time you take a dip, it is in new water. No two moments are alike. It is ignorant to cling to your past or a future. Life runs its own course. The river may be muddy in monsoons or cold in winter. It may be pleasantly warm on some days and crystal clear on other. At any rate, as long as the source does not dry up, it will continue flowing. Much like life.
Since we are already on the journey of life, we may as well walk with grace, with contentment. Whoever would roam, whoever would stay…
Flow if you want to merge in the ocean.
========================
We should have this deep faith that there is someone who loves us totally and will take care of everything for us. Then we can be free of all our worries and difficulties.
========================
It seems the harder I work, the more luck I have.
========================
Make a goal to arrive at work 10 minutes early.
========================
The highest reward for man's toil is not what he gets for it, but what he becomes by it.
========================
Take time to be grateful for the opportunity to work, especially when you feel like complaining.
========================
Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.
========================
Find what you love doing, and put your whole heart into it.

With the divine blessings of Shri ShankarNarayana, I made it to Bodh Gaya, the world heritage site. Bodh Gaya is the place where Gautama obtained supreme, unsurpassed enlightenment.
Traditionally, Buddha was born in 563 BC in what is Nepal now. As Siddhartha, he renounced his family at the age of 29, and travelled and meditated in search of truth. After practicing self-mortification for six years at Urubela (Buddhagaya) in Gaya, he gave up that practice because it did not give him Vimukthi. Siddhartha Gautama had been dwelling on the banks of the Nairanjana River with five ascetic followers for six years practicing austerities. His five ascetic companions disgusted at his seeming failure, deserted him and left for Sarnath. He discovered Noble Eight-fold path without help from anyone and practiced it. Buddha took a seat under a pipal tree facing east. Here he resolved not to rise again until enlightenment was attained. Enlightenment is a state of being completely free from lust (raga), hatred (dosa) and delusion (moha)
The disciples of Gautama Siddhartha began to visit the place during the full moon in the month of Vaisakh (April–May). Over time, the place became known as Bodh Gaya, the day of enlightenment as Buddha Purnima, and the tree as the Bodhi Tree. The history of Bodh Gaya is documented by many inscriptions and pilgrimage accounts. The place Bodh Gaya, did not come into use until the 18th century CE. Historically, it was known as Uruvela, Sambodhi, Vajrasana or Mahabodhi. The main monastery of Bodh Gaya used to be called the Bodhimanda-vihāra. Now it is called the Mahabodhi Temple. Since 1953, Bodh Gaya has been developed as an international place of pilgrimage. The site of the enlightenment now attracts Buddhists and tourists from all over the world! 🙏🏻📿🕉🌀🌲📿🕉🙏🏻

Mistakes are learning opportunities.

Mistakes are learning opportunities. It takes failure after failure to create success. Never regret anything, because every little detail of your life is what made you who you are today. 🌀🌀 Namaste Beautiful Souls. It's time for Thursday Thoughts. 📿🕉📿 Yes, You may be hurt or broke. Take all the time you need to heal emotionally. Moving on doesn’t take a day. Never let a bad day make you feel like you have a bad life. Just because today is painful doesn’t mean tomorrow won’t be great. So try to smile in the mean time. Not because life has been easy, or exactly as you had anticipated, but because you choose to be happy and grateful for all the good things you do have. It’s better to have a life full of small failures that you learned from, rather than a lifetime filled with the regrets of never trying. Be Positive. If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it. Being hurt is something you can’t stop from happening, but being miserable is always your choice. Negative thinking creates negative results. Positive thinking creates positive results. Mistakes and setbacks are rarely as bad as they seem, and even when they are, they give us an opportunity to grow stronger. You should never let one dark cloud cover the entire sky. The sun is always shining on some part of your life. Sometimes you just have to forget how you feel, remember what you deserve, and keep pushing forward!! THE QUEEN JEWEL...

THE QUEEN JEWEL...
He was a Time traveller; He had been to many lands in many times and had known many different people. But, no matter where it was that He sat, at the thought of Heaven, images of snow-clad mountains and a certain indescribable joy of togetherness would inevitably come rushing to His mind. Another image almost always linked itself to the landscape:
A gypsy tribe of fierce men and gorgeous women dancing around a bonfire of pure warmth, in a bonhomie that was incomparable in the entire Universe.
A past bond, that He had now understood, led travellers from far off lands and even galaxies to search for this tribe like the Holy Grail.
If discoverers of the cosmos and Time travellers could find the tribe, surely the mountain Chieftain and His Queen would be spotted in the midst of it all!
Parvati. The very thought of Her made Shiva smile. She was the Queen Jewel seated in His heart as centerpiece, around whom, all the rest rallied in adornment.

It had dawned on Him that He was an eternal witness, and thus too, the realisation that the story of all life, was His story.

THE ETERNAL WITNESS
Then again, He knew a perfect stillness.
When He sat alone, He was in deepest oneness, always. When He closed His eyes in self-repose, a most enigmatic dance presented itself to Him; a dance of Time; where the past and the future got animated as players and themselves entertained Him , like performers in a carnival. It had dawned on Him that He was an eternal witness, and thus too, the realisation that the story of all life, was His story.

SHRAADHS, GANGA AND THE SADGURU

SHRAADHS, GANGA AND THE SADGURU
Most of us who love Shiva and his stories, have, no doubt, heard of the Ganga Avataran. While traditionally this meant to convey how the descent of Ganga would give salvation to erring or lost souls, how one man's worship ( Bhagirath) could atone for his ancestors.
And this becomes so appropriate during the 'shraadhs" which is the time that Hindus pray for their ancestors and departed family members souls and try to repay Pitr rin (a debt by virtue of birth in a particular family,to its forefathers).
We can learn another dimension of Ganga's landing on earth, the higher, spiritual meaning is that Ganga is full of divine knowledge, because she descends from the heavens, and carries God's message. So, she is a 'revealer' of Gyan. But now, there is a problem, the Ganga is so forceful spiritually, that her torrent cannot be sustained by anyone except Shiva. This is to be noted:
Only Shiva consciousness can sustain mystical revelation.
Only after a mystic steeped in that consciousness, lands the Ganga Gyan on his head, can he pass on the waters to flow downwards and parch the thirst of the other souls.He must first know divinity first hand !
Lord Shiva is the Adi Guru, He always helps seeking souls. At the behest of Ma Parvati, He always helps to distribute divine knowledge of the heavens. And true Sadgurus are like Him, in their sincerity and love for others. They follow ' Shiva's way'
A chapter from my book The yogi and the snake further elucidates this:
SHIVA'S WAY
"Meditate, receive the Gyan Ganga upon your head. Stabilize the impact. Then, trickle it down gently for the others, so that they too may quench their thirst. If you have it, give it freely.
Simply said, but not so simple to implement. There is a very thin line between intelligence and Insanity. Consciousness means a very high intelligence, hitherto, unknown, to the new seeker. So, it has to be given in doses. So it is not to be given so freely that it leads to insanity, thus we say trickle it. Thus we sometimes fortress Knowledge, thus we sometimes do not speak of the way. But still, we have to give it freely, another paradox! This is a great energy system, akin to a tightrope. Learn to strike the balance. If you go too fast, you fall, go too slow, you will fall again. Find the pace that suffices. The Guru is the dispeller of darkness, like the Sun. The Sun enables us to see, but if we look to it directly, we lose our sight, we go blind, darkness again.So, the Guru may choose a pace, known only to Him."

The word Chandra means moon. Shekhar means crest or peak. Because the moon adorns the head of Lord Shiva, he is called Chandra Shekhara.

The word Chandra means moon. Shekhar means crest or peak. Because the moon adorns the head of Lord Shiva, he is called Chandra Shekhara. The moon on Shivas forhead symbolises that the lord is the master of time and is timeless himself. Rudraksha beads which he is shown with denote purity and the Mala symbolises concentration. The serpents around his neck signify the ego which once mastered can be worn as an ornament.
According to one interpretation, Daksha's curse on Chandra is the reason why Shiva wears crescent moon on his head. Twenty-seven of Daksha’s daughters were married to the moon-god Chandra. One of these wives was named Rohini and Chandra loved Rohini more than he loved the other wives. The other wives felt neglected and they complained to their father. Daksha repeatedly warned his son-in-law to devote himself equally to all twenty-seven wives. But Chandra was in no mood to listen. Daksha thereupon cursed Chandra that he would gradually fade away. Chandra sought advice from Brahma and Brahma told him that the only way was to pray to Shiva. Chandra went to Prabhasa teertha and made a linga on the banks of the river Saraswati. He prayed to Shiva for six months. At the end of the tapasya Shiva appeared before Chandra and offered to grant him a boon. Daksha's curse could not be entirely ignored. Ao Shiva decided During krishnapaksha Moon will wane. And during shuklapaksha moon will wax. Thus being the graceful Almighty, Lord Shiva wore the moon crescent on His head, making him grow for 15 days and decay for 15 days periodically. Chandra was delighted that Shiva blessed him, no matter what. The lingam to which Chandra prayed is Shri Somnath Ji in Gujrat, the first of the Jyotirlingas. 🙏🏻📿🕉🌙🌀🐍🙏🏻 Jai Shri ChandraShekharaya Namah ~ Jai Shri Somnathaya Namah! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
