On Ganesh Chaturthi people welcome Lord Ganpati in their homes and serve Lord Ganesha for next 10 days. Some people after bringing Ganpati home on Ganesh Chaturthi, they immersion him the next day. While some devotees keep Ganpati at their home for 3 days, 5 days and 7 days and serve him. Some Jatak keep Ganpati at their home for 10 days and bid farewell to Lord Ganpati on Anant Chaturdashi.
Lord Ganesha's farewell is necessary on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. Ganpati visarjan should be done on Anant Chaturdashi in every situation. Before Ganpati visarjan perform Jataka Havan and Lord Ganesha's legitimate worship. Again Ganpati statue is lifted with respect. During this time people sing farewell songs and dance on drums.
