अघोरपंथ साधना की एक शाखा है। शमशान में तंत्र क्रिया करने वाले साधुओं को अघोरी बाबा कहते हैं। यूं तो अघोरियों का इतिहास करीब 1000 वर्ष पुराना है। उस समय वाराणसी में अघोरियों का जन्म हुआ था। लेकिन आज इनकी संख्या काफी कम हो गई है।

अघोरियों की सबसे पहली पहचान यही है कि वे किसी से कुछ नहीं मांगते। दूसरा यह कि वे जल्दी से दिखाई नहीं देते। शमशान में रहने वाले अघोरी साधुओं को कुंभ में देखा जा सकता है। इस लेख के जरिए आगे की स्लाइड में हम आपको अघोरी साधुओं के बारे में बताएंगे कुछ हैरान कर देने वाली बातें।

अघोरी साधुओं का शिव का रूप कहा जाता है। इसलिए यह भी मान्यता है कि अघोरी कलयुग में पृथ्वी पर भगवान शिव का जीवित रूप हैं। शिवजी के पांच रूपों में से अघोर एक रूप है। अघोरियों के बारे में हमेशा से ही लोगों की जिज्ञासा रहती है।

आम इंसानों से दूरी बनाकर रहने वाले ये साधु भांग-धतूरे के नशे में रहते हैं। इन्हें जीवन यापन करने के लिए किसी सुख-सुविधा की जरूरत नहीं होती।

अघोरियों को डरावना या खतरनाक साधु भी समझा जाता है लेकिन अघोर का अर्थ है अ+घोर यानी जो घोर नहीं हो, डरावना नहीं हो, जो सरल हो, जिसमें कोई भेदभाव नहीं हो। अघोरियों का वास्तविक रूप देखकर एक बार के लिए आप डर सकते हैं।

दुनिया से मतलब नहीं रखने वाले अघोरियों के शरीर पर केवल लंगोट होती है। काफी अघोरी नग्नावस्था में ही घूमते रहते हैं। इनका शरीर धूल-मिट्टी से सना रहता है।

अघोरियों के लिए समाज में कोई भी अपना या पराया नहीं होता। लोग जिन चीजों से घृणा करते हैं, अघोरी उन्हें अपनाते हैं। जैसे लोग श्मशान, लाश, मुर्दे के मांस व कफन आदि से घृणा करते हैं लेकिन अघोर पंथ इन्हें अपनाता है।

अघोर विद्या व्यक्ति को ऐसा बनाती है जिसमें वह अपने-पराए का भाव भूलकर हर व्यक्ति को समान रूप से चाहता है, उसके भले के लिए अपनी विद्या का प्रयोग करता है।

अघोर विद्या सबसे कठिन लेकिन तत्काल फलित होने वाली विद्या है। इसके साधक को साधना शुरू करने से पहले मोह-माया का त्याग करना जरूरी है। मूल रूप से अघोरी उसे कहते हैं जिसके अंदर से अच्छे-बुरे, सुगंध-दुर्गंध, प्रेम-नफरत, ईष्र्या-मोह जैसी सभी भावनाएं मिट जाएं।

सभी तरह के वैराग्य को प्राप्त करने के लिए ये साधु श्मशान में कुछ दिन गुजारने के बाद हिमालय या जंगल में चले जाते हैं।

ऐसी मान्यता है कि अघोरी साधु हर किसी को जल्दी से आशीर्वाद नहीं देते। यदि ये किसी को आशीर्वाद दे दें तो उसका जीवन सुखमय हो जाता है। यह भी कहा जाता है कि पहले तो अघोरी किसी को कोई वचन नहीं देते।

अघोरियों का आशीर्वाद यानी सुखी जीवन. यदि ये किसी को वचन दे दें तो उसे पूरा करते हैं। अघोरियों के बारे में यह भी मान्यता है कि ये बड़ें ही जिद्दी स्वभाव के होते हैं। यदि ये किसी से कुछ मांगेंगे तो लेकर ही जाएंगे। क्रोधित होने पर ये अपना तांडव दिखा देते हैं।

भोजन में केवल गाय के मांस का परहेज करने वाले अघोरी बाबा की आंखें लाल सुर्ख होती हैं। इनकी आंखों में जितना क्रोध दिखाई देता है, बातों में उतनी ही शीतलता होती है। अघोरी साधना तीन प्रकार की होती है। यानी अघोरी साधु श्मशान में तीन तरह की साधना करते हैं। पहली श्मशान साधना, शव साधना और तीसरी शिव साधना।

ऐसी मान्यता है कि शव साधना के बाद बाद मुर्दा भी बोल उठता है और आपकी इच्छाएं पूरी करता है। शिव साधना में शव के ऊपर खड़े रहकर साधना की जाती है। शमशान साधना में परिजनों को भी शामिल किया जा सकता है।

According to Aghoris everything is the manifestation of god itself, so everything is as pure, so abandoning anything is like abandoning god itself. Aghori follows the simple rule that the universe resides in them. And they try to attain enlightenment by self-realization. Many of the Aghoris roam around naked representing the true human form and their detachment from the world of mortals who according to them live in the world of illusion (“maya”). Through this they transcend human feelings of love, hatred, jealousy and pride. Aghories believe the God exists in everything so nothing is unholy or inauspicious, but everything is sacred.

The Aghori pilgrimage place is in Varanasi and their stories is popular in every hamlet of India and Nepal. Most significantly, any cremation ground or haunted houses is regarded as holy by the Aghoris where they meditate and perform sadhana. Their worship methodology is gruesome and do not get surprised if you happen to see them indulging in impurities. The whole purpose of their tantras, mantras and practices is to attain non-duality and self-realization in life.

Drinking from a human skull, known as kapala, is another common tradition in Aghori ritual. Some people believe that Aghori sect is full of people doing black magic but that’s not true. It is also believed that they have supernatural powers with which they can control nature and change the direction of the winds. Being devotees of Shiva they often chant powerful mantras for attaining moksha - liberation from the cycle of life and death. Tourists from around the world come to India to see and believe the Aghori culture. Aghoris have attracted so many philosophers and researchers to make documentaries, movies and write books as well.

In Hindu iconography, Tara, like Kali, is one of the ten Mahavidyas (wisdom goddesses) and once invoked can bless the Aghori with supernatural powers. The most popular of the ten Mahavidyas who are worshiped by Aghoris are Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, and Bhairavi. Other Hindu deities primarily worshiped by Aghoris for supernatural powers are manifestations of Shiva, including Mahakala, Bhairava, Virabhadra, Avadhooti.
