What is the significance of Lord Ganesha?

Lord Ganesha is a supreme deity/god in Sanatan dharma.

Lord Ganesha is known for his knowledge and wisdom, he is generous and lovable and is the absolute destroyer of evil in the world.

He is Alampata ( one who is forever eternal).

He is bhalchandra ( moon crested).

He is Kaveesh ( lord of poets) and he is Kirti ( lord of music).

He is manomay ( the winner of hearts).

He is gaurisuta (Son of Mata Parvati) and rudrapriya ( Beloved of Mahadev). Lord Ganesha is Mahaganapati( the supreme) and Prathameshwara ( first among all gods).

Vedas are the testimony to his supremacy.

The Vedas say, “Kalau Chandi Vinaayakaa!” This means, in this age of Kali yuga, one obtains immediate results by the worship of Divine Mother Chandi by performing Chandi homa, or by the worship of Lord Sri Ganesha.

The Rig Veda says:

“Vinaayakaanaam veda priyaha bhadrapada chaturthi yajna mahaa priyaha.”

When one performs yajna, the sacred fire ceremony by following all the correct rituals, Lord Ganesha will surely grant the devotee the fruits of this sacred and meritorious action.

Let's keep this answer short. I hope that now you have got a rough idea of who is Ganesh ji and what is his significance.

Ganapati Bappa Moriya !!
