Padmanabha: The Lotus Navel
Different organs of our body are governed by different devas. The solar plexus is connected with the sun, that’s why it is called solar plexus. When the first rays of the sun fall on the solar plexus, it is very good for your body. This is why it is good to do Surya Namaskar (sun salutation yoga asana) in the early morning.
The solar plexus has a profound impact on the central nervous system, optic nerves, stomach, and what we usually call our “gut feeling.” It is the second brain in your body. Usually the solar plexus is slightly bigger than an almond. With the practice of yoga asanas, meditation, the solar plexus can become as a large as an apricot. Then it performs better and balances the bodily functions. When the solar plexus contracts, one feels horrible, sad, depressed; all the negative feelings come. When the solar plexus expands, the intuitive mind awakens; the mind becomes clear and focused. Krishna was called Padmanabha, meaning whose navel is the size of a lotus flower. If you become Padmanabha, you become absolutely creative. Brahma, the Creator, is said to be born out of a blossomed solar plexus. These days, the solar plexus remains small, but the tummy keeps getting bigger.

+Guruji: If you think you are very important, then you will be ignored. Got it? There is no question of forsaking. Does air forsake you? Does the sun forsake you? There is nothing called forsaking. If anyone feels like that, it is all in the mind.

Q : I think I am addicted to meditation. Is it bad to be addicted to something awesome like meditation?

Q : I think I am addicted to meditation. Is it bad to be addicted to something awesome like meditation?
Guruji: You can’t say that you are addicted to compassion, it is a wrong word to use since it is an integral part of your life. Similarly, you can’t say that I am so addicted to being clean; I am addicted to brushing my teeth. Just like brushing is dental hygiene, meditation is mental hygiene. Yes, you should not be obsessed with it. Suppose you could not meditate for one day, do not make a big issue out of it by getting upset or angry; never mind. Once in a while, like once in two years, it is okay. You should not feel guilty about it. However, missing meditation should not become a regular thing. Missing it three times a week is not very advisable.
