The ceremonial procession carrying the Thiruvabharanam, the jewellery to be offered to the presiding deity of Swamy Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala, will set off from Valiyakoickal Sastha Temple at Pandalam on Sunday.

The palace premises adjoining the temple at Pandalam continued to witness heavy rush of Ayyappa devotees who came to worship the jewellery kept in the palace strong room.

The Thiruvabharanam was an offering made to the Ayyappa temple by the king of the erstwhile royal kingdom of Pandalam who is believed to be the foster father of Ayyappa. The jewellery will be taken out of the palace strong room and handed over to the Travancore Devswom Board authorities by 4 a.m. on Sunday. It will be kept at the Valiyakoickal Sastha Temple for the devotees to offer prayers till 12.45 p.m.

The procession carrying the Thiruvabharanam will set off for Sabarimala from the Valiyakoickal Palace at 1.30 p.m. Dileep Varma Raja of Pandalam Palace will be the royal representative escorting the ceremonial procession. The procession will reach Sabarimala on January 14 afternoon.
