Shiva teaches us law of universe. His teaching demonstrates that all the material in universe goes through stages of existence that roughly correspond to birth, life, and death. That means we have limited time to perform our dharma (duty) and karma (action). Dharma and karma are two different concepts though spell rhythmic. Dharma is the way to be followed by every individual according to their roles in life. Karma means action. For every action there is an equal reaction. As we sow so we reap. This is the law of nature. Dharma is "duty" or the role you are meant to play as a responsible member of not just to your family but also of society, mankind and to the nature.
It is important to understand how to perform good karma and dharma because they play vibrant part of our life. Depending on our performance the both provide us results, which may come in a different form, unhappiness or joy of satisfaction. To accurately perform them we have to worship God.
The meaning of worshiping God is not going to temple or church but by having same respect for all by treating all same. Worshiping Shiva is helping others, to the poor to the people who are in need of help.
Have a same respect for all without judging their function and characteristic. Treat all the same way regardless of their type, gender, look, race, age, color or anything else.

Jesus Christ Says “But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven; for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust”
