What is Ganapathi Atharva Sirsam ?

Ganapathi Atharva Sirsam ( which is also known as Ganapathi Upanishad ) is a veda mantra from Atharva Veda.It is a simple yet powerful chant that will immensely get you connected to Lord Ganesha.

**It is said that a single person who has mastery over the Atharva Veda will protect his whole nation from all dangers and calamities**

This is the mantra which is used in Ganapathi Homam.

My personal experience from this Mantra.

I got introduced to this mantra from my professor. We were about to start a vedic chanting group in the campus.Ganapathi Atharva Sirsam was a new vedic hymn to me hence my professor taught me this mantra in a temple. And after learning,we chanted the mantra about three times in front of Lord Ganapathi in the temple ( It is the same temple I wrote about in the article about Muneeswaran in this blog )

It was indeed a very pleasant and vibrant moment. The chant was so unique and engaging. It was something different from the other veda mantras I chant , such as the Sri Rudram.

My professor later explained that He adores this chant very much and that he used to teach it to school children in a Shirdi Baba centre in nearby town.

He says that the children always chant this mantra before going to school and they performed excellent in their studies.

This mantra also greatly activates the muladhara chakra ( root
MULADHARA CHAKRA
chakra) . It is said that Lord Ganapathi Himself resides in this chakra.Once the muladhara chakra is active, you become very stable in life. You will break all obstacles and move like a king.

Lord Ganapathi is a symbol of ultimate intelligence. His elephant head symbolises intelligence.Hence without doubt, chanting this mantra will definitely enhance one in his or her studies.

This Ganapathi Atharva Sirsam till now,is an important portion in the vedic chanting group we started off. Many students have learnt it and have shared wonderful experiences. This mantra has helped them in various ways. The best part is that this mantra showed the results extremely fast.

One particular girl developed a form devotion to Lord Ganapathi that she never imagined. It was very deep. The interesting part is that she was never into Ganesha worship.Although she used to sing bhajans and songs for Him,chanting this mantra regularly moved her to a different kind of dimension which she never thought of.

**Hope this article has given a good insight about the Ganapathi**                                         Atharva Sirsam.

**May Lord Ganesha break any obstacles in our endeavors**
