Lessons from Shiva

1. Be the channel of blessings - Lord Shiva always depicts himself covered in ashes and in the forest, yet while he does not have any physical depiction of physical wealth, he has an abundance of blessings for everyone.
2. It is all about Love - Love everyone, everything. Love the universe. What moves Shiva to giving everything is loving everything.
3. Do not Stereotype - Does anyone know any other Gods who would invite ghosts and demons to their wedding procession? Shiva treats everyone the same. Inherently, there is good and purity in everyone, in everything.
4. There is no superior gender - Shiva treats Parvati as his equal
5. Do not separate Shiva from yourself - Shiva and Parvati are not just ideals, they are our aspiration. They are our destination of who we should be, who we need to be. If we see that we are Shiva and Parvati, then to reach the fullness of their values and attitudes, we see ourselves as part and one with them. We are all Part of Shiva, and not Part Shiva. The moment we see Shiva as a separate entity from us, we then give the excuse that we can't attain the attitude and philosophy of Shiva because we're not Shiva.
6. Shiva is in the Himalayas, and not in the heavens - If you want to reach Shiva, you just have to trek the mountains. It is difficult, but attainable. Shiva is within reach through determination. He is here, with us, and therefore approachable.
Om Namah Shiva
