The Methods of Worshipping Shivaling is mentioned in Shiva Maha Purana. Describing the method of Shiva worship Brahma ji says-
"A devotee should get up early in the morning and contemplate on Shiva, who gives benediction. After that, he should finish his daily routing work and perform rituals like 'Sandhya' and Vandana etc. After that, he should worship Shivalinga according to vedic rites like Panchopachar, Sodashopachar. After the performance of Devata-Namaskar, he should make a resolution if he has any wish to be fulfilled. Then the worship of Shivalinga should be done, with the help of Mantras and offering flowers to the Shivalinga. The purity of the mantras should be maintained while chanting them. He should perform 'Abhisheka' with various offerings. Also should beg pardon for his sins."
During the worship of Shivling, a devotee should apply a tripunda on his forehead and wear a rudraksha on his body. Rudraksha originated from the eyes of Lord Shiva. There are many stories in Hindu scriptures about Rudraksha. References are found in our Vedic scriptures of Shiva Purana, Padma Purana and Shrimad Bhagawatam. Because of its association with Shiva, Rudraksha is said to be a favourite of the Lord. But not merely legend, even modern scientific research has proved the power of these beads. It says Rudraksha beads store electromagnetic properties which influence human physiology.
Rudraksha meaning ; the eye of Rudra is considered to be the most potent manifestation of the Cosmic Force. Hence Rudraksha is the object of veneration and also the source to reach the higher self. Rudraksha is often believed to symbolize the link between the earth and the heaven.
The word rudraksha is derived from two words - rudra and aksha.
A. Aksha means "Teardrops". Rudra and aksha together mean "the one that is capable of looking at and doing everything" (the third eye).
B. Rudra is one of Shiva's Vedic names. A (अ) means to receive and ksha (क्ष) means to give. Hence, aksha (अक्ष) denotes the ability to receive or give. Rudraksha is the one that has the ability to wipe our tears and provide happiness.! 👁🕉📿🔱🐍💀🌀🔔⌛️🐚🌙🌿🌷
