On yet another day, Parvati asked Shiva, “So what exactly was the plan of Divine consciousness in creating this world? Was it essentially for learning about the Self?”

“Divine consciousness meant for this world to be a school of learning, yes; but as a playschool,

not one with fear of results,” answered Shiva.

“Hmm… like children at play are always in bliss?”

“Yes.”

“So, is that why they say children are the best representative of God?”

“A child is in the image of God. Most tribes and cultures agree on this.

 It was intriguing that though He lived on mountain tops, far from a modern civilization, at an altitude where only eagles spanned the spotless skies, yet, He knew of aeroplanes. He smiled to Himself that man could actually sit and fly at the same time.

Shiva was the Lord of Tantra, a unique system of weaving together God’s science of manifestation. He often taught His ganas the tantra, saying, You see, from the very beginning of the world, there was an interplay of Shiva and Shakti. I , a Poet, and She, an Artist. Whatever I sang in divine verse, She painted on the canvas of the world. And life began.

“Right in the very early beginnings of the world, Brahma and Vishnu, the two Gods were arguing over which one of them was older in age and therefore, perhaps superior. Both were citing various examples of their own prowess; while Brahma boasted about all His creations, Vishnu talked of His divine manifestations and how He had, from time to time, saved the world.”

“Suddenly, a huge column of fire appeared, which had virtually no beginning and no end, startling both Brahma and Vishnu; they had never seen anything like this.

SHIVA BARAAT LILA.

“Who is this uncouth man? What is he doing in Shiva’s baraat, why has he been allowed here? And why don’t Shiva’s men throw him out?” asked Mena with extreme consternation.

“He, verily is Shiva, dear Mena…” replied Brahma with a twinkle in His eye.

“He is who??” cried Mena.

“Your son- in -law to be. Behold Shiva, the Great God of the universe!” replied Brahma with a chuckle, enjoying the Shiva lila.

But Mena fainted.

It was as if He had made the beasts and birds His family.

Over time, some more beings, who were different from humans, and from the other beasts as well, started joining in, creating an even more extended family. The word had spread that Rudra never asked anyone their antecedents, never questioned their strange appearance; it was enough for Him that someone wanted to be part of His family.

“We are one big family,” He would tell His forest friends.

“Ah, but we are different,” they would say. “Look, we have three eyes, or then two noses, some of us limp or then stammer; our breath is called foul by others. We are different.”

“Everyone is beautiful,” He would re-assure them. “You all have your own beauty! You don’t have to have two eyes just because we have two; you could have three, because you see more!”

Sitting silently, meditating on the Self , there comes a moment when you realise ,all this while you have been seated in the palm of your own hand.

The right use of money

 

"I need to ask a few questions about things that are in focus today, said the snake, what about money?" Said the snake

"What about money? "asked the yogi," it has always been in focus."

"Well what of it then?"

"Enjoy money, only, don’t let it deprive you of whatever comes for free, don’t let it deprive you of friendship with the transpersonal doers."

"Can a moneyed man be spiritual? "asked the snake.

"Why not?" answered the yogi, " Man has only made the currency. But money is evaluated in terms of what it can buy. Whatever it can buy, from where has all this come? Break everything down to the elements and you are back to Nature again. It can buy food, livestock, tents, a home, gems, metals, contraptions? All these belong to God in any case.

Is money unspiritual? No you cannot blame the piece of paper. What goes wrong then? a moneyed man, a man of means, gets so involved with those means, he forgets the end. He gets so externalized, he seldom finds the time, or has the need to introspect, to meditate; therefore the chances of his making contact with the source, become minimal. He remains joyous with these toys, to which he has easy access. We say he is distracted. Not attracted to the source of joy, within. We say he is deluded.

Such a man, is rarely compassionate, indifferent to the welfare of fellow beings, and prone to oppressiveness and unrightful authority. Where there is unrightful authority, there is hell.

But, if such a man, who inspite of his money, doesn’t lose kindness, love and other things that money can’t buy, can he not be spiritual? If a moneyed man doesn't lose track of the end goal of life,will Heaven not welcome him then?
So, enjoy money, with a through understanding about its limitation. Understand the mystic character of money, it deprives you of what it can’t buy. Do not let it deprive you of harmony." replied the Yogi
