In this Universe, there are billions of Suns and uncountable planets, indeed far more beautiful than earth. But there is something magical about this little planet. Something so magnetic that it makes the Gods of the far away galaxies want to take birth on earth even if they are to be an ordinary human being.

And that magic is Shiva.

Shiva smiled, laughed, and then spoke exaltedly like a poet. “This earth upon which we sit, the hills, these trees, the springs, this soft wind, even the moon, the sky, those distant stars that bejewel the night are offerings to you, truly, dearest!" He exclaimed, arising. "The entire universe is a projection from the pristine essence within me; this human bodied Yogi you love - your husband, Shankar!

“And when shall my children get this vision?” demanded the mother, latent in the bride.

SHIVA

He loved mountains. He loved to dance. He loved to wear His hair long. He was a simple hillbilly: good at heart, and He loved his fellow mountain men. But He was not considered in turn, a fellow man.

It was said of Him that He was God Himself—The Primal One.

He was said to be the Timeless Lord of the mountains and also the men He so loved.

He was Shiva, the Auspicious. Shiva, whose very presence was able to transform humans into demigods.

So many times on His mountain sojourns, He had chanced upon a singing shepherd, or a wandering minstrel, singing of Shiva!

Sometimes, life can become like a dream

where day after day, night after night, things repeat.

Things repeat at a personal level, and we call it routine.

Things repeat at a Universal level, worldwide, and we call it the Times, good or bad.

All Shiva says, is wake up to the origin, wake up to me.

Instead of always focusing outwardly, look deep within and see.

Before dawn, sometime during a winter month, while most of the world lay asleep, a young ascetic was walking briskly through a forest. It had become a habit with the young Rudra to start His day like that, without waiting for the sun. His pace was brisk, yet steadfast; the gait graceful, yet determined. He looked straight ahead, yet was aware of all His surroundings. And He thought of

nothing, yet His mind was full of God.

The central import of Shiva’s story, is that of love: God created this universe, simply to love and be loved. The central import of Parvati’s life, is to be with Shiva, always. In so doing even through lifetimes, it is She, who establishes the Hindu belief in re-incarnation; for love it is, that can propel us to be re-born; to manifest ourselves just to be with the beloved, once again.
