Samadhi, give up all your desires and turn your mind towards the Àtmà. When you do this, you will find that the entire body takes a different turn. The different kinds of energies will all come under your control. The state of mind, which goes with japa has been described as the state of samadhi. Japa means continual repetition of the name of the Lord in ones mind. You should understand that only when one is in his natural condition and yet enjoys the bliss of samadhi, then alone is he said to be in a state of samadhi.

You should understand that only when one is in his natural condition and yet enjoys the bliss of samadhi, then alone is he said to be in a state of samadhi. Anything else can never to be equated with samadhi. The meaning attached to the word comes from the word itself. 'Sama' means equal and 'dhi' means buddhi or mind. When you have developed equal mindedness, you are in a true state of samadhi. It is quite possible for you to develop this state even in ordinary life. When mind is turned inwards, it looks only at Àtmà and does not look at the external surroundings. when your mind is turned inwards, you will not notice the difference between sorrow and happiness or between heat and cold. The mind of such a person is always engrossed with what may be called 'Àtma Drishti'. We eat so many greasy things. This grease may get on hand but it never remains on the tongue. The tongue is untouched by the grease. The Lotus flower lives in water and depends on water for its existence but the water does not affect the lotus. Do not be in haste. Do not lose your patience. Do not have a wavering mind. Remember that you should have an unwavering mind, if you want to attain the state of samadhi. If you plant a sapling now, how can you get the fruit immediately, the plant must become a tree and then you can get its fruit. we should not be in a hurry and that we should remain peaceful and calm. ~ Love, Light & Peace ~ Boom Shankar!

There will always be people who treat you poorly, but keep being you. You are strong, you are positive. Regardless of the way they treat you, at the end of the day the only reflection staring back at you in the mirror is your own.

There will always be people who treat you poorly, but keep being you. You are strong, you are positive. Regardless of the way they treat you, at the end of the day the only reflection staring back at you in the mirror is your own. Make sure you’re proud of who you are. Be confident that you’re a good person, whether they respond positively or not. Don’t ever let someone else’s bitterness change the person you are. How people treat other people is the direct reflection of how they feel about themselves. Don’t let the silly little dramas of each day get you down either. Stay positive when negativity surrounds you. Keep calm and carry on. It takes one positive thought to overpower an entire array of negative thoughts. People who are able to find the one positive point in negative situations are the ones who never give up. Always be kinder than necessary. Remember What goes around comes around. No one has ever made themselves strong by showing how small someone else is. The kind deeds you exert in just one moment can have a positive impact that lasts a lifetime. Your days will be brighter. Choose to be kind every day, and you’re truly choosing to live in a better world.! Love, Light & Peace ~ Boom Shankar!

Lord Shiva tells Devi Parvati something special: She is the eternal woman in His life,
His Shakti, His soulmate. such is the leela of Shiv Shakti ,that he reminds her of their timeless togetherness. This is the shaivite legend of Amarnath. It is Shivji, who tells shakti her own origins! So on the day of mahanavmi, which is the origin of Shakti, we must remember the togetherness of the Divine pair.
But surprisingly ,in the spiritual Kashmir Shaiv Darsana : Kashmir Shaivism,it is Shiva who needs to be reminded by various acts of Shakti ,various experiences in His life that show Him he is the supreme soul.To the Bhakt who has experienced the love of God, both theories are perfectly alright and complementary to each other, not contradictory.
Both Shiv and Shakti are the supreme Godhead of the Universe and can assume any role, that of the teacher and also that of the listener. Aum Shiv shakti Namah.

Shivji is Adi Nath, the primal yogi , Adi Guru, the primal teacher, and the happiness of being in his proximity is boundless, Shiva has shown the sapt rishis various ways of meeting Him, and these teachings have evoluted into the myriad paths, the margs of reaching out to God , like Bhakti Marg, Gyan marg, Karma Marg, and dhyana marg. DEVI

DEVI
Somewhere in the mountains,
a golden tiger brought
his rider
to the Lord.
And the Lord saluted Devi, saying
you,
are mine own god……
------------------------------------------------
Ah Durge~
we
do not know all
thy visions and thy graces
less still thy names.
Life’s each new turn
unfolds yet,
You
Once again!
and we,
bewildered thus
a child ….so remain.
Somewhere from the mountains,
a golden tiger came.

ARDHANARESHWAR.

ARDHANARESHWAR.
Ardhanarishwar, the androgynous representation, of Lord Shiva and Parvati, is an extremely beautiful Shaivic symbollism. It denotes the perfect repose of Prakasa (illumination) and vimarasa (reflection of that illumination on itself, therefore its power, to do).
Devi Parvati and Her Lord, Shiva , are a perfect two in one,
one in two.This is the greatest Truth symbolised in the Shaivite scripture and learning. God is both Transcendence and manifestation, being and becoming, Yin and Yang, potential and kinetic,Shakti and Shaktiman, Shiv, and Parvati, father and mother, God is the worshipped and also, in the worshiper.God is both the dancer and the dance, the meditator and the meditation, the stillness and the flight, the sky and the earthy ground, God is the ground of all things, the height of all asked for.He is both the drummer and the drum the heart and the beat, the music and the note, the poem and the word.
Shiva is Shakti. Shakti, is Shiva. To know this is is to honour Shiva in fullness. Aum Namah Shivaya! Jai jagdambe!!
Shiva is everything as the ultimate consciousness. But when
He manifests in form, it is male. Here too, He is inseparable from His consort, Parvati, who is female, together they are called Ardhanareshwar, the God that is indistinguishable in gender.

Need of Keeping the Ancestor Happy?

Need of Keeping the Ancestor Happy?
When you meditate and you are in knowledge, that knowledge can pass on to the ancestors as well.
There is a beautiful ceremony in India called Tarpan. Tarpan means fulfilling, satisfying. A son or daughter prays for their ancestors, who have passed across, to be content and fulfilled. They take sesame seeds with water and they say ‘Tripyati, Tripyati, Tripyati’. Tripyati means be content.
The ceremony means, 'You might be having small desires in the mind, they’re like the sesame seeds. Just drop them and move on, be content. We are here to fulfill your desires, don’t worry about these little things'. This is what they say.
So reading Yoga Vasishta (an ancient Indian text), and being in knowledge itself spreads the subtle light to other realms of existence. So they get fulfilled by you being happy and content, by you being in devotion, and in wisdom. That positive vibration reaches to other planes and touches them too. You don’t have to do any special thing for it.
Sometimes people feel that they are not getting the benefit of their meditation. It is because a portion of the merits of their meditation is being reaped elsewhere. Someone else is enjoying that. So, that is okay.
=======================
Where ever you are, when you simply become silent and go within yourself, that very moment, you find God.
=======================
A mature intellect is devoted, a mature heart is full of knowledge. Meditation matures your intellect as well as your heart.
=======================
Q. We are trying to reach our seventh level of existence. Do we have to cross all the levels or balance all to reach the self?
Guruji : They all exist simultaneously.
=======================
Q. What is your definition of Happiness?
Guruji : Happiness is the direction in which life tends to flow.

Chanakya Neeti In Hindi : First Chapter

चाणक्य नीति : प्रथम अध्याय | Chanakya Neeti In Hindi : First Chapter
1. Humbly bowing down before the almighty Lord Sri Vishnu, the Lord of the three worlds, I recite maxims of the science of political ethics (niti) selected from the various satras (scriptures).
2. That man who by the study of these maxims from the satras acquires a knowledge of the most celebrated principles of duty, and understands what ought and what ought not to be followed, and what is good and what is bad, is most excellent.
३. इसलिए लोगो का भला करने के लिए मै उन बातों को कहूंगा जिनसे लोग सभी चीजों को सही परिपेक्ष्य मे देखेगे।
3.Therefore with an eye to the public good, I shall speak that which, when understood, will lead to an understanding of things in their proper perspective.
4.Even a pandit comes to grief by giving instruction to a foolish disciple, by maintaining a wicked wife, and by excessive familiarity with the miserable.
५. दुष्ट पत्नी, झूठा मित्र, बदमाश नौकर और सर्प के साथ निवास साक्षात् मृत्यु के समान है।
5. A wicked wife, a false friend, a saucy servant and living in a house with a serpent in it are nothing but death.
6. One should save his money against hard times, save his wife at the sacrifice of his riches, but invariably one should save his soul even at the sacrifice of his wife and riches.
7. Save your wealth against future calamity. Do not say, "What fear has a rich man, of calamity?" When riches begin to forsake one even the accumulated stock dwindles away.
8. Do not inhabit a country where you are not respected, cannot earn your livelihood, have no friends, or cannot acquire knowledge.
9. Do not stay for a single day where there are not these five persons: a wealthy man, a brahmin well versed in Vedic lore, a king, a river and a physician.

Selfish or Useful

Selfish or Useful
Your friends are a gift, your partner is a gift to you. Honor them rather than utilizing them.
In life there are two position you take. Whatever you get, either you make use of it; that is your selfishness. Or you be useful towards it (or them) and be grateful; this shows your expanded level of awareness. This shows that your consciousness is now matured. You are matured. You are not just making use of somebody but you are trying to be useful towards them.
=======================
Q: I have met you a number of times. But for the first time I feel that you are tired and are stressed from pressure of the whole responsibility of the universe.
Guruji : Of course, responsibility is there on the shoulders. You all can share it.
=======================
On full moon day, when you look at the moon your breath becomes musical. Looking at the moon, the prana in you becomes musical and life becomes harmonious.
=======================
Q: I have never done yoga in my life? What is yoga? Is it a meditation? Is it different postures of the body? If that is so, what are the scientific linkages between those things and what happens inside which leads to such dynamic effects in the form of resolution of conflict and giving us peace of mind?
Guruji : First, I would like to refute your first statement that you have never done yoga in your whole life. You have done it as a baby, but you don’t know it. Not a single child on this planet has grown up without doing yoga.
Babies, when they sleep, they are in the Chin Mudra while sleeping. In any part of the world you see, when babies are lying down they lift their legs first, and then they go on their belly and try to lift their shoulders. To some extent every child has done asanas on this planet.
Then coming to the breathing pattern - the way we breathe is different from the way a baby breathes. A baby has a stress-free mind, a happy mind. All the science of yoga is already there in a baby and as babies, we have all been yogis.
We are just going back to our roots.
Yoga has eight limbs; there are eight steps to it and one among them is physical postures. But, the central teaching is maintaining an equanimous state of mind.
'Samatvam yoga uchayate' - yoga brings equilibrium in the mind. When you can do any action with mindfulness, you are aware of what you are saying or doing, this makes you a yogi.
See, science is a systematic logical understanding of what is. In that sense, yoga is a science; it is a systematic understanding of the subject. Knowing ‘What this is’ is science. Knowing ‘Who am I’ is spirituality.

Why do we ring the bell in a temple?

Why do we ring the bell in a temple?
You cannot think, ‘I am doing good work, but why are people criticizing me?’ It is their nature. The nature of a thorn is to prick and the nature of a flower is to spread fragrance. The world has both thorns and flowers. If the flower asks the thorn ‘Why do you prick?’ the thorn will answer ‘it is my nature’.
=========================
Q: Is it love or surrender when I feel your presence in meditation?
Guruji: Surrender with love. And that which happens with surrender is love.
=========================
Q: How to have strong will power?
Guruji: When you want to have strong will power, know that you already have it.
===========================
Q: I want to be your best instrument. Will you make me?
Guruji: Yes. Good. Good.
==========================
Q: Guruji, I feel I am stuck. I am unable to spread knowledge. What should I do?
Guruji: You don’t need to do that what you cannot do. Nobody expects you to do anything which you cannot do. But whatever you can do, you must do. This is because when we do service, it does good to other people, and that brings us immense satisfaction too.
Okay, before you leave, I want you to give me all your worries. I want you to go home with a big smile. And whenever you feel you are down, upset, not feeling happy or good, remember you are not alone! I am with you!
My dream is to see everyone with a big smile, and the whole world as one family. And I would like you all to join me in this dream to make a violence-free, stress-free, and happy society.
=========================
Q: Why do we ring the bell in a temple?
Guruji: Because there are so many thoughts wandering in your mind, with the sound of the bells you come into the present. Your thoughts come to a halt.
The drummers beat large drums, play the Naadaswaram, shehnai, bells, and conch. All these sounds are made so that your mind becomes quieter.
Your mind is like a kid. When a kid is crying, you cry louder than the kid and the kid becomes quiet. Have you noticed that? In the same way, when there is so much noise in your mind and too many thoughts, they blow the conch, ring the
bell and with all the sounds, the mind comes to the present moment.
With so much noise around, the mind cannot think. It cannot wander. So it is used as a technique.
All outside sounds suppress the sound of the mind for a little while. This short-term suppression should lead the mind to silence. Once it goes into the depths of meditation, all words feel burdensome. But when the mind is full of words, and you are troubled by too many thoughts, these sounds bring relief. Have you seen in the Buddhist monastery, there is a big gong? They ring the gong and that vibration will keep you silent. So, from sound to silence, the journey is very important.

Even your being alive is not permanent – so where is the question of addiction being permanent?

Even your being alive is not permanent – so where is the question of addiction being permanent? Sadhguru. Yes, nothing is permanent, worries troubles, challenges and even our life come to an end.. Then Why cant addiction? there are many different forms of addiction, it can take hold of us in such a way that it is difficult to get ourselves free. Drinking, smoking, gambling, sitting too much in front of TV or addiction for facebook, Beating addiction once and for all is possible, but only if you are passionate, willing, and enlightened as to how to go about doing it. Those who have a problem with addiction will want to start by first acknowledging it, No matter what it is. Why am I doing this, what purpose does it solve? If you are an alcoholic you are not just drinking because you are thirsty. Admit. "I am medicating myself for anxiety, depression and pain, it numbs me to life." Use alternative coping skills, break old bad habits n replace them with new ones. There’s an old saying “It takes 30 days to develop a habit, and 7 days to break it. Yes consider developing new habits, like breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. Make life style changes, start frequenting temples or places where you feel more close to God, after all he is the one who is going to give you that energy and will power to change your old habits. Yes, ShivaShakti. When you bring Shakti in your inner world she will guide you through your most conflict ridden issues. Meditating on Shakti fills the body with deity energy and strong will power. So transform your lifestyle, your whole life will change once you bring yourself more close to ShivaShakti!! Peace ~ Jai ShivaShakti ~ Jai ShankarParvati!!

Sometimes the prettiest smiles hide the deepest secrets, have cried the most tears and kindest Hearts have felt the most pain.

Sometimes the prettiest smiles hide the deepest secrets, have cried the most tears and kindest Hearts have felt the most pain. They have known misery, known defeat, known the heartbreak of losing something or someone they loved, and have found their way out of the depths of their own despair. They have experienced many ups and downs, and have gained an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, understanding and wisdom. They aren’t born, they develop slowly over the course of time. So when hard times hit and the challenges you face are great, you can either let your situation define you, let it destroy you or let it strengthen you. The choice is yours! Pain is part of life, and part of love! Yes love hurts and the feelings it brings disturbs us. But We need to feel pain, Pain is meant to wake us up. Because you can only learn how strong you are when being strong is the only choice you have. Do not let the pain of a situation make you hopeless. Do not let negativity destroy you. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Life is beautiful. get up every morning and take a good look around you, take nothing for granted. Everything is extraordinary. Every day is a gift. Never treat life casually. Change your thoughts and you change your reality.! Love, Light & Gratitude ~ Jai Shiva Shankar ~ Om Namah Shivaya!!

God Talks

God Talks
“But there are limitations to what a man can do for himself, limitations, where only cosmic evolution can help”, said the snake.
“True, but there is much that can be done by man himself. ‘ man proposes, and God disposes’ ; you tend to chew up the first part of this saying, leaving only God to go about His dispositions. Why do you forget, that it is the role of man to propose, go on proposing, till something is accepted. Again, my indication is not towards technology, you have done fairly well there, landing on the moon, flying in the air, swimming under the ocean in your submarines. But, you have little or no tenderness, no brotherhood, and this creates more of your problems than those that are thrust upon you by Nature. The death of a man, for example, may be construed as an act of Nature, but, what about the torments that are willfully inflicted upon his widow thereafter? If only you had better understandings in your societies, your Natural limitations would affect you lesser. It astonishes me that with the passage of time, instead of widening your mind, you have narrowed your own vision, narrowed your perspectives. Why blame cosmic evolution alone? Meditate, evolve, grow, understand, be kind, let love flow, divert your energies to helping each other. Discharge this role, then, see how cosmic evolution helps. Verily , the key to cosmic evolution, is your individual evolution, so, why put spokes in the wheel of the Universe?”

Simple But Powerful ‪#‎Mediation‬

* Simple But Powerful ‪#‎Mediation‬ *
It is a simple but powerful meditation technique to awaken the sleeping Shivji within by invoking enlightened masters and making perfect attunement with them through merger of the mind. There is only one mind, of which our own minds are different expressions.
Ultimately, there is no distinction between the meditator’s mind and that one mind of which the guru is also an expression. The spirit of the master can always be invoked by any meditator with earnest invocation and concentrated visualisation.
In addition, the physical form of the masters, as embodiment of wisdom, radiates their thought vibration.
By receiving the same, we can merge our mind with them just as the crystal assumes the colour of a closeby object. The process is fairly simple, but needs to be practised with faith, humility, devotion and keen visualisation.
Sit comfortably with eyes closed, spine erect and chin parallel to the ground. Take a few deep breaths and tense and relax the whole body from the crown to the toe in slow succession. Give conscious command to every body part to relax and feel that the body part is completely relaxing. Thus when the whole body will be relaxed like a lump of flesh, the mind will become thoughtless and calm.

HIS PRESENCE LIT UP THE SOUL

HIS PRESENCE LIT UP THE SOUL
His presence lit up the soul,
and
even as the sun set,
the play of Shiva had just begun.
Ah! The endless game,
rising and shining and setting and whining,
was just to,
one by little one,
light us all
up in flame,
not death!
But, the unsound and immortal Name,
AUM!

TRINETRADHAARI
One of Lord Shiva 's greatest attributes, is His third eye.
This deeply meditative close up of Siva's Ajna chakra...is beautiful. Merely looking at the pic sends you in empathetic state of trance..
It is also called Jnan (Gyan) chakshu. So what is the third eye?
In the simplest understanding,The third eye is the intuitive doorway from where one begins to 'see' the fourth dimension, and beyond !
Lessons in Shivji's Gyan,
his Yogas and His tantras,
his speech and His silence,
his stillness and His dance,
ultimately result in the opening of our own Gyan Chakshu. This is enlightenment , this is self realisation.
Aum Namah Shivaya!

SILENTLY FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME

SILENTLY FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME
Silently
from the beginning of time
the nameless ones
salute the One with endless names
Namah Shivaye,
Aum Namah Shivaye!
My song is just one more drop
in the Mystic Sea,
For He,
who, ever since He chose
to make waves,
is loved
by a million gatherings of drops
like you, like me.

Rudraksha – Everything You Need to Know About It

A rudraksha is the seed of the Eliocarpus ganitrus tree and plays an important role in a spiritual seeker’s life. Sadhguru looks at the various types of these beads and their benefits, including the panchmukhi and ek mukhi.
Sadhguru: Rudraksha is the seed of a particular tree species which usually grows at a certain altitude in the mountains – mainly in the Himalayan region. Unfortunately, most of these trees were used to make railway sleepers, so there are very few of them remaining in India. Today, they are mostly found in Nepal, Burma, Thailand or Indonesia. They are there in some parts of the Western Ghats in South India, but the best quality ones come from a certain altitude in Himalayas because somehow the soil, atmosphere, and everything influences it. These seeds have a very unique vibration. Usually, the big beads are not so vibrant. The smaller the bead the more vibrant it is.

Malas

Usually the beads are strung together as a mala. Traditionally, they believe the number of beads is 108 plus one. The extra bead is the bindu. There must always be a bindu to the mala, otherwise the energy becomes cyclical and people who are sensitive may become dizzy.
If you take cold water baths and are not using any chemical soap, it is especially good for the water to flow over it and upon your body.
When you string them, it is best that they are strung with either a silk thread or a cotton thread. If you wear it with a thread then it is good to take care to change the thread every six months. Otherwise one day the thread may snap and your 108 beads will go all over the place. If you want to use copper, silver or gold also it is fine, but what happens most of the time is, you take it to the jeweler to do it. When the jeweler ties a knot with a gold wire or whatever, usually they tie it too tight and close and the inside of the rudraksha cracks. I have seen, despite telling people to tell the jeweler, when they bring it back to me after getting it done, about 30-40% of the time it is broken. It is very important that you make sure it is loose. It should not be tightened too close, because if the inside crumbles with the pressure, it is no good.
The mala can be worn all the time. You can even wear it when you shower. If you take cold water baths and are not using any chemical soap, it is especially good for the water to flow over it and upon your body. But if you are using chemical soaps and warm water, it becomes brittle and will crack after sometime, so it is best to avoid wearing it at such times.

Benefits

For someone who is constantly on the move and who eats and sleeps in various places, rudraksha is a very good support because it creates a cocoon of your own energy. You might have noticed that when you go to a new place, sometimes you can fall asleep easily, whereas in certain other places you cannot fall asleep even if you are physically tired. This is because, if the situation around you is not conducive to your kind of energy, it will not let you settle down. For sadhus and sanyasis, places and situations could trouble them because they were constantly moving. One of the rules for them was never to put their head down in the same place twice. Today, once again, people have started eating and sleeping in different places because of their business or profession, so a rudraksha can be helpful.
Another thing is, sadhus or sanyasis living in the forest cannot drink water from just any pool because many times in nature, the water may be poisoned or contaminated with certain gases. If they were to drink it, it might cripple or even kill them. If a rudraksha is held above the water, if the water is good and drinkable, it will go clockwise. If it is poisoned, it will go anticlockwise. It is also a way of checking the quality of food. If you hold it above any positive pranic substance, it will move in a clockwise direction. If you hold it over any negative pranic substance, it will move in anti-clockwise direction.

A shield against negative energies

It is also a kind of shield against negative energies. It is possible for some people to use negative energies to cause harm to someone else.
It is also a kind of shield against negative energies. It is possible for some people to use negative energies to cause harm to someone else. This is a whole science by itself. One Veda, the Atharvana Veda, is all about how to use energies to your advantage and to someone else’s detriment. If somebody who has mastery over this wants to use it, so many things – extreme suffering and even death can be caused.
A rudraksha is a kind of shield against this. You may think nobody will do negative things to you, but it is not necessary that it should be targeted at you. Let us say somebody did it to the person sitting next you, but he is not receptive to it. Now you may get it because you are sitting next to him. It is just like when two people are shooting at each other on the street, they do not intend to shoot you, but you may get shot. Similarly these things also can happen. It is not intended for you, but it can happen if you are in the wrong place at the wrong moment. There need not be a huge fear about such things, but a mala is a kind of protection from that.

Ek mukhi, panchmukhi and more

The number of faces a bead can have varies from a single face up to 21 faces. They are used for different purposes, so it would be improper to just buy something in the shop and put it on the body. Wearing the wrong type could disturb one’s life. A lot of people want to wear an ek mukhi, which has only one face because it is very powerful. You yourself have many faces. When you have many faces, if you wear an ek mukhi, you are asking for trouble.
Five-faced beads or panchmukhi is safe and good for everyone – man, woman and child.
People say if you wear an ek mukhi, you will leave your family within twelve days. Whether you leave the family or not is not the issue, it is just that it will make your energies in such a way that you will want to be alone. It doesn’t make you compatible to be with other people. If you have to wear other kinds of special beads, it is best that it is received from someone who knows these things, not just buying from the shop and putting it on your system.
Five-faced beads or panchmukhi is safe and good for everyone – man, woman and child. It is for general wellbeing, health and freedom. It lowers your blood pressure, calms your nerves and brings a certain calmness and alertness in your nervous system. Children below 12 years of age can wear six-faced beads. It will help them calm down and be more focused. Above all they will receive the right type of attention from the adult.
The Gauri-Shankar is a certain kind which brings balance between yourIda and Pingala. Generally, people believe it will bring them prosperity. Prosperity need not necessarily mean just money. It can come in so many ways. You may not own anything but still you can be prosperous in your life. If you are a balanced person and you function sensibly in your life, prosperity may come. It happens when energies function well. A Gauri-Shankar balances and activates your Ida and Pingala.
If you have chosen to purify your life, a rudraksha is a good tool and aid, a little support on the way. When someone is walking the spiritual path, he wants to use every little support on the way to enhance himself, and it is definitely a very good support. A guru usually energizes a rudraksha in different ways for different kinds of people. For people in family situations, it is energized in one way. If you want to be a brahmachari or a sanyasi, it is energized in a completely different way. People in family situations should not wear something energized in a certain way.

Genuine malas

Traditionally, rudraksha were always dealt with by people who held it as a sacred duty in their lives. For generations, they did only this. They also made their living out of it, but fundamentally it was like a sacred duty of offering it to people. But once the demand became too much, commerce came in. Today in India, there is another seed called badraksh which is a poisonous seed, which grows extensively in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and that area. To look at, both these seeds look the same. You cannot make out the difference. Only if you take it in your hand and if you are sensitive, you will know the difference. This should not be worn on the body, but these are being sold as authentic beads in many places. So it is important that you get your mala from a trusted source.
