SHIVA COMES RUNNING FOR HIS BHAKTAS

Lord Shiva loves His Bhaktas and His relationships with them. He is always eager to know, how his favourite people have surfaced to their present form in this ocean of manifestation, how are they doing in life. He always wants a recap from the other’s story.
This is because it is Lord Shiva's lila;  In each lifetime, in each story, He enjoyed sitting with His friends, sharing quality time in long conversations. They would exchange anecdotes and talk of the experiences gathered in each other’s absence. It was like filling in the blanks, putting in the pieces that fitted into a mystic Jigsaw. Unfailingly, each time, there would ultimately be that one glorious moment when, while sitting and exchanging their own private worlds and sojourns, the final piece would fit, completing the big picture.
And a silent but supremely powerful Oneness would dawn.
It was called Samadhi.
Samadhi means, to be one with the Adi- the first ( Shiva)
Don't you think it is time for you to have your samadhi?
Call out to Shiva in your own life, call from your heart and the Lord will come running.
Aum Namah Shivaye.

YASHODA AND SHIVA

YASHODA AND SHIVA
“I am but a simple mendicant, come from far, very far indeed, to have a darsana of your child…” implored Shiva.
But Yashoda backed off even more, further alarmed at the yogi’s words. “Take what you want!” she exhorted. “Here… pearls, gold, jewelry… but see my baby, you cannot!”
“Of what use are these to a mendicant?” replied Shiva wistfully. “These are of no use at all in the forests. Please let me have one glimpse of Krishna.”
“Not at all! Go away, please, I say!” Yashoda’s voice had assumed a slightly aggressive tone.

RUDRA- BRAHMA'S MIND BORN SON

Suswagatam prithviloka mam putra! Welcome to earth, my son!”

Shiva remembered that  Brahma had spoken those words, at the time of His appearance as a little baby on earth.

He had a tremendous ability to remember most things from the past

His mind raced back to the time when Brahma first lovingly called Him, “Rudra, my son.”
No one knew of Shiva's origin, but out of all the Origin stories, Shiva Himself  felt  more comforted in the ones that listed Brahma as His father.
In one story , Brahma gave Shiva His first name.
That was His prerogative as Father: to name the son.
Brahma had stood up on one leg and prayed to Shiva for a thousand years. When Shiva appeared and asked him to choose a boon, Brahma asked that Shiva should become his son. And the moment He asked Shiva for a boon that He should be born as Brahma’s son; He had named the Son!

Once Shiva had been the formless, nameless, unseen one, but Brahma saw to it that all that changed.
And when it happened, this birth was indeed the miracle of a cosmic timeline.
Now, holding a rueful baby in His paternal clasp, listening to His cries and wails, trying His best to calm Him down, Brahma let out a proud laughter, saying aloud “Rudra.”

“You are Rudra, the wailer, my tiny son. Welcome to the world of manifest beings.”
One of the first sounds He heard, was of admiration. There were thousands who had come to receive Shiva as a little baby.  “Oh! What a nice body He has!” Someone was saying to Brahma. From the corner of His eye, He saw Brahma beam with pride. “ Mam putra! Mam putra! He is my son! MY son!”

The receivers could well have been revellers. They were shouting and kissing Him, cuddling Him, tossing Him amongst themselves, from one to another. The patting and shouting and excitement increased, only to be supplemented by some smothering kisses on His cheeks by ladies who in turn said, “I am His Aunty.”

This was His first ritual. And it was frenzied, this welcome ritual by earthly fathers and mothers and what they were collectively called - Kutumba. One of the mothers started draping Him in some very fine and warm robes. “Our little raja,” she said fondly.

A MARRIAGE MADE IN HEAVEN

A MARRIAGE MADE IN HEAVEN
There was frenetic activity in Kailash.
Every gana had a look of superiority on his face and was running up and down, sometimes in circles, sometimes with a purpose, at other times in strange motions borne out of excitement.
Shiva was getting married! This was no small thing. Shiva, Lord of the universe was getting married! And they were part of it. Of course there was reason to be excited. And there was so much to do!

“AUM”.ॐ.

A mixing of the time worlds, in the stillness of now.
This would enable them not only to rejoice in the essential Oneness, but also enable the group to bring forth and introduce characters into the play that were hitherto unknown to the other.
Everything would just become a divine moment, a climax of the life lived. Samadhi.
The magical moment of transcendence was loved by the wise seers. They understood a divine sound, a divine vibration for it, and whispered it almost inaudibly…“AUM”.

The art of the littlest point.
A whole infinity reduced to a dot. And the dot crowned the Aum, represented by crowning the syllable
.

Aum, was always in the now. Samadhi was a moment of the future mingled with the past. The seers understood that Samadhi was the grace of Shiva, it was the ultimate revelation about the Self.
He knew a perfect stillness.
When He sat alone, He was in deepest oneness, always. When He closed His eyes in self-repose, a most enigmatic dance presented itself to Him; a dance of Time; where the p
ast and the future got animated as players and themselves entertained Him , like performers in a carnival. It had dawned on Him that He was an eternal witness, and thus too, the realisation that the story of all life, was His story.

A TIMELESS LOVE

A TIMELESS LOVE
Personally, His mind always went out to two things: The first were the snow-clad mountains He could see but did not know.
The other, the woman He knew, but could not see.

PARVATI - THE ONE HE LOVED IMMENSELY

PARVATI - THE ONE HE LOVED IMMENSELY
The one person that Shiva loved meeting in this cosmic mind field, the one person whose memory He would not allow to fade even when they were not together, was, unchallengeably, His Woman. In a whole universe that had been projected by Him, She was the one being He loved immensely.
Parvati, His inseparable better-half.
Parvati, without whom, Shiva felt like ‘not Shiva’.
Parvati, without whom, Shiva didn’t feel anything at all.
Parvati, without whom, the Seers summarized, “He was Shava, a corpse.”

WHAT IS SHIVRATRI ?

SHIVRATRI

It’s that time of year,
when all beings of the manifest world,
from ants,
to birds, animals and even plants,
behave with a certain cheer,
as if cosmically 'stirred' out of their sleepy dormancy
into a mood of 'waking'.
We humans too find ourselves bubbly.
Winter has gone, and a sparkling Sun
is thawing its way, springing into a fresh sky.
And everyone seems to perceive that certain Divinity,
about the way Nature begins the season's regeneration.
Shiv bhakts, in particular, seem doubly merry,
with a definitive halo of authority
that has recently dawned on their countenance,
getting into busy mode and frenetic festivity…

And why not?
It’s that time of year, when
in the dark half of 'Phalgun',
in English, february or maybe march,
on the I3th or I4th day,
the longest night, which is also moonless and so the darkest
has come.
But behold, they say it is the great night of their auspicious Lord,
Shiva ratri, the beginning of all light.
Celebrated all over India,
in homes and in temples,
by the ascetics and the householders,
in sober prayer and in ecstatic intoxication,
by ritual and by trance,
in stillness and in dance,
and many things more.
It is attended by legends
of the wicked and the devout,
the sickly and the stout,
but none agrees on exactly what it’s about.

"It’s Shiva's birthday," say some.
Others swear it’s His wedding night with Parvati.
Some opine that is when the Ananda Tandava,
the first Dance, began.
Yet others teach of it as the profundity of awakening,
saying,
“It’s the celebration of the day Shiva was illumined
about cosmic mind,
a Primal consciousness,
His own rhythm Divine!”

Shail Gulhati, author of the bestselling book series shiva the says " Shivratri is actually the realisation night of Shiva, when after intense meditation He finally realises His own Shivaness. This is a realisation by Shiva of His Shakti, which then shows its magic across the entire Universe. Therefore Shivratri can be all three in one go: Shiva's realisation, His birth ( to Self ) and His marriage to Shakti ( His own Power )
This picture of Shiva is the one that adorns Shail gulhati's house temple. It is displayed openly on the Shivratri night.
Aum Namah Shivaye.

FROM SEEDS TO FORESTS

FROM SEEDS TO FORESTS
“The seed is the ultimate map. It holds the complete technical blueprint, the conceptual code—the Bodha Gyan—of a giant oak. But tell me, is the map enough?”Asked Shiva.
“No,” the seeker replied, catching the rhythm of the truth. “The map doesn’t give shade. The code must sprout. It has to brave the dark soil, drink the storm, and fight its way toward the sun.”
“Yes,” Parvati added softly, stepping closer. “The seed is the mathematical calculation, but the growing forest is Paurusha Gyan. It is the truth stepping onto the floor and experiencing itself from the inside.”

SARVATRA BHAIRAVA- SHIVA IS EVERYWHERE.

SARVATRA BHAIRAVA
The Ancient Rishis of Kashmir  have a saying, 'Sarvatra Bhairav" . Everywhere, is Shiva. Why do they say so? Because , everything comes from Him, and to Him it will go, this is something most people know or believe. But what we do not fully understand, is that Everything always also 'Stays' in Him . At each moment of our lives , we are actually abiding in Shiva, but we are not aware of this, we do not commonly understand this, in the way that we accept that everything comes from Shiva and will go back to Him.
But the Kashmir Shaiv Darsana : Kashmir Shaivism says, There does come a time in the life of a seeker when there is a Divine arising from within. This spiritual arising from Shiva within, is called Udhyamo Bhairav . When this happens due to years of prayer and meditation, learning and introspection, and , of course, the Anugraha- Grace of Shiva, the yogi becomes enlightened.

But the spiritual journey is not complete with just enlightenment or self realisation, it must culminate in the seeing of Lord Shiva everywhere, Sarvatra Bhairav. This is when the seeker has merged so completely into the sought, that he cannot anymore distinguish anything from His Beloved Shiva, wherever he looks he can " See" Shiva ! North, South, East, West, Here, there, up,  down, everywhere!
Aum Namah Shivaye.

GOD ALONE KNOWS

GOD ALONE KNOWS
Its Amazing that the Phrase " God Alone knows" used nowadays for expressing one's own ignorance, was, in fact, originally meant to convey that enlightenment happens in great Solitude.

Bharat Bhagya Vidhata

Jana-gaṇa-mana adhināyaka jaya hē
Bhārata-bhāgya-vidhātā.
Paṁjāba-Sindhu-Gujarāta-Marāṭhā,
Drāviṛa-Utkala Baṁga
Viṁdhya Himācala Yamunā Gaṁgā,
ucchala jaladhi taraṁga
Taba Śubha nāmē jāgē,
taba śubha āśiṣa māṁgē
gāhē taba jaya gāthā.
Jana gaṇa maṁgala-dāyaka jaya hē,
Bhārata bhāgya vidhātā.
Jaya hē, Jaya hē, Jaya hē,
jaya jaya jaya jaya hē.~

The beautiful Indian  National Anthem has a particular line twice.
"Bhārata-bhāgya-vidhātā."
Have you ever wondered why so?

The first time it means, it is in India's destiny to have God. He is present in its Hills and valleys, rivers and shores, in east and west, north and south. That is why its geography is described in detail.

And the second time, it means God , who is the benefactor of all beings , who takes care of all the world, but in the case of India, He has written its destiny personally.

THE SPLENDOUR OF YOUR OWN SIGHT

THE SPLENDOUR OF YOUR OWN SIGHT
And when you witnessed a shimmering light,
did you feel that strange delight ?
as though you watched a play and knew
You alone were the watcher and the playwright.

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN SHIVA TOLD HIS OWN STORY

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN SHIVA TOLD HIS OWN STORY
“There was a time when Shiva Himself told His story to the forest dwellers, and Vyasa, the bard, used his prolific skill to record the self-revelations of the Divine One. And then, true to His trademark humility, Shiva receded into the background. But perhaps, wishing secretly that we would all remember Him, we would all know His legend, always.” Rishi Suta said.

GOD PROPOSES, MAN DISPOSES

GOD PROPOSES, MAN DISPOSES
( Shiva and Daksha- The first meeting )
“My Lord,” said the chief guard as he entered the chamber of the minister for protocol. “There is a rider in the waiting hall, who says He wants to meet King Daksha right away. He does not have any prior appointment.”
Shiva sat comfortably, and said , “Greetings, Raja Daksha, it is indeed a pleasure to visit Kankhal and Your Majesty’s splendid court.”
