HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014!

Photo: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
i absolutely love Lord Shiva as Nataraja, the cosmic dancer!
As you dance out the 'old' and dance in the 'new',
no matter where you are, remember that all of life is but a dance of Divinity. Sometimes we have a bad song playing, sometimes the rhythm is broken, but at the end , as in the beginning of all things, it is, but a dance, of the Divine. Remember it is all in the Now.
All is from God, from earth to the sky.
Aum Namah Shivaya!

May God bless all of you!

My number for you!!:

THE KINGDOM OF SHIVA

Photo: -: THE KINGDOM OF SHIVA :-

Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is one of the five and the highest Panch Kedar temples located in the mountain range of Tunganath in Rudraprayag district of Tehri Garhwal. The Tunganath (literal meaning: Lord of the peaks) mountains form the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys. Located at an altitude of 3,680 m and just below the peak of Chandrashila, Tungnath temple is the highest Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is believed to be 1000 years old and is the second in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars. The priest at this temple is a local Brahmin from Maku village, unlike the other Kedar temples where the priests are from South India, a tradition set by the eighth century Hindu seer Sankaracharya. It is also said that the Khasi Brahmins officiate as priests at this temple. During the winter season, the temple is closed and the symbolic image of the deity and the temple priests are moved to Mukunath, which is 19 km from here. Best time for pilgrimage to the shrine is summer months (end April or early May to October) as the temple remains snow bound and unapproachable. During this period even Chopta, the nearest road head remains deserted.

It is an ancient temple built in the North Indian style of temple architecture. It is small in size and can barely accommodate ten people in the sanctum. Surrounding this temple, there are a number of small shrines of several gods. The sanctum part of the temple abuts the hills where the sacred standing black rock (swayambu) with tilt to the left, of 1 ft height, denoting the form of arms of Lord Shiva is worshipped. Among the smaller shrines, the central temple is of goddess Parvati, Shiva’s consort. Away to the far right there is a group of five small shrines dedicated to the Panch Kedar, which include Tungnath also as one of the Panch Kedar, in addition to the main Tunganath temple. Near the Akash Ganga water fall, close to Tungnath, a temple to Nanda Devi is located to denote that it is descending from heaven.

The Tungnath peak on this ridge is the source of three springs, which form the Akashkamini River. The temple lies about 2 km below the Chandrashila Peak 4,000 m. The road to Chopta is just below this ridge and hence provides the shortest bridle approach path for trekking to the temple from Chopta, over a short distance of about 4 km.Chopta is 63 km (39 mi) from Rudraprayag towards Karnaprayag and is reached from Rishikesh via Devprayag, Srinagar and Rudraprayag. From the top of the Chandrashila peak, picturseque views of the Himalayan range comprising snow peaks of Nanda Devi, Panch Chuli, Banderpoonch, Kedarnath, Chaukhamba and Neelkanth on one side, and the Garhwal valley on the opposite side could be witnessed. The valley between Chopta and Tunganath temple has wooded hills with rich alpine meadows with rhododendron coppices and also agricultural fields. The rododendrons, when they are in full bloom during March, display dazzling colours ranging from crimson to pink.

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun 258 km. The nearest railway station is at Rishikesh 241 km.

Guruji, I am writer. Over a period of time, there have been various emotions that have brought forth great literature, but those have been of negative emotions, like pain and longing and it does not feel apt. I feel one can go into greater levels of the positive side. How can I use both?

Photo: Q: Guruji, I am writer. Over a period of time, there have been various emotions that have brought forth great literature, but those have been of negative emotions, like pain and longing and it does not feel apt. I feel one can go into greater levels of the positive side. How can I use both?

Guruji : You must remember that people are very different. We are not in a homogenous society, we are in a very heterogeneous society. Even within an individual, he is not the same throughout; his moods change, his feelings change. For example, when someone wants to listen to music, sometimes they listen to music that is very jarring, sometimes they listen to music that has longing or melancholy. People’s moods change; when the moods change, the type of literature they pick up at that time also changes. Personalities are different, and they enjoy different things.
In India, in the ancient days, there was a concept of navarasa, nine moods. A literature is said to be complete when it has all the nine moods; anger, valor, a sort of desperation, sadness. All these different moods attract people at different times. Some people like humour a lot. Some others would not like to read humour all the time, but they would like to read, as you said, literature that touches your heart, or makes you cry, or makes you a little more emotional. You need to cater to all sections of society, and genuinely, what you feel at that time, you must express it.
You can’t force yourself to be humorous; you can’t force yourself to write a love story, or a love song. If it is not coming from within, then your efforts, I think, may not be as fruitful, as they should be.

Glory (Vaibhav) and Dispassion (Vairag)

Photo: Glory (Vaibhav) and Dispassion (Vairag)

It is often believed that glory and dispassion are contradictory and cannot co-exist. Glory and luxury without dispassion is a nauseating pomp and show. Such glory does not bring fulfillment for anyone. It is shallow. Alternately, the dispassion that is afraid of glory is weak. True dispassion is oblivious to glory.

The glory that comes with dispassion is something that is true, that is permanent and authentic. When someone runs after glory they are shallow. Like movie stars, politicians and religious leaders who try to hold on to their status, to their glory, they are certain to lose. If you run after glory all you get is misery. When you are dispassionate, glory comes to you.

If you are afraid of glory, that means you are not well-founded in dispassion. In India, the Sadhus (Saints) run away from glory. They think they will lose their dispassion and get trapped in the web of the world, the circus. The dispassion is so blissful; they get attached to the dispassion.

They are afraid of losing the dispassion, the centeredness and bliss that comes along with it. This is weak dispassion. Dispassion is a state of being and glory is the happening around it. True dispassion can never be lost or overshadowed by glory. True dispassion is glorious! Real glory is true dispassion!

What is Love?

Photo: What is Love?
The puzzle of love is made up of four pieces. Which ones?

I would like to share with you the four pillars, four constituents of love. If you see what I mean, I promise, by the time you finish reading this post, you'll have a new perspective on love. What is love? Just having feelings for the other person, or wanting someone real bad is not always love; it may be, but generally it isn't. Think of love as an object for a moment, an entity that is made up of four elements. You bring them together and love appears miraculously. In the absence of the primary constituents, what you experience may be strong attraction, it may be a crush, infatuation, something, anything but love. Let me start with an anecdote:

A man comes home in the evening to see his children, still in school uniform, playing barefoot in the street. He enters his home and finds that their school bags, their socks and shoes are lying in the living room. A further he goes and sees the dining table littered with open bottles of peanut butter and jam, dirty plates, bread crumbs. On his right side is the sink with a stack of dishes. The dinner's not ready, and the whole kitchen is one big mess. Shocked and intrigued, he goes to his bedroom and finds the bed undone, his wet towel from the morning still lying there, and his wife, still in her night suit, reading a book.
"What happened?" he exclaimed, "the house looks as if a ghost did the rounds today."
"Oh, that," she said casually. "You know how you always say what do I do sitting at home all day? Well, whatever it is that I do, today, I didn't do it."

In our sense of self-importance, it is easy to underestimate, even overlook, the contribution of the other person. Your work may be different, it may even be harder but it doesn't mean it's more important. Love is about seeing the world through the eyes of the other person. This leads me to spell out the four factors of love. As follows:

Respect
When two people are living together, there're going to be trying times, difference of opinions, disagreements and all. But, at that time, if you choose to be respectful to the other person and not be sarcastic or contemptuous, your relationship will remain intact. Even if you don't agree, still, be respectful. It's worth it. Each time you shoot words of anger, every time you belittle the other person or their contribution, if you mock them, a great blow is delivered on the delicate flower of love. It's okay to disagree, it's even okay to have arguments sometimes, but it's not okay to shout and it's not okay to talk down. For your own good, respect each other. When someone's self-esteem is attacked, they'll quickly, even if temporarily, forget what all good you've done for them. Why? Because self-esteem, self-respect, or even ego, is linked to the most innate, fundamental human aspect of self-preservation. Respect is not limited to just respecting the other person but their values too. They may have different beliefs than yours, a different way of thinking, of operating. You don't necessarily have to agree, but if you wish to retain love, you've to, at the least, respect.

Care
The second piece of the love-puzzle is care. It is love in action. You may tell someone twice a day that you love them but the first moment they need you and you are not there for them, what good is that love? If he or she's sick and you don't even give them medication, if they are scared or nervous and you make no attempt to soothe them, if you can't make them feel good about themselves, if you can't comfort or brace the other person, what good is that love? Care in words is important but care in actions is far more important. It doesn't just stop at paying the bills, it's about repaying the other person. Every word, every gesture of care fosters love. What do you do with the things you love, be it cars, gadgets or accessories? You take care, right? Therefore, what would you do if you really loved someone? You do the math.

Compassion
I once read, "Nobody is perfect. And, I'm Nobody!" This is how many people live. They know they are not perfect but they believe and behave as if their word is the gospel. Compassion is about being kind towards the other person and their mistakes and not holding them hostage to your own self-perceived sense of superiority or perfection. Sometimes, when you don't agree with them, or when you can't understand their perspective, can you, at least, adopt a compassionate view and let it go? Forever justifying our thoughts, acts, and emotions, we are often compassionate towards our own mistakes. But, it is having compassion for the other person that heals love. I'm hurt but I'll let it go says forgiveness. I'm sorry you had to do this, says compassion. Forgiveness sympathizes, compassion empathizes. And love? Love synthesizes the two.

Appreciation
The fourth and the final ingredient of love is appreciation. From a five year old to a ninety-five year old, appreciation makes the other person feel valued, it makes them feel loved, important. No one wants to be unhappy. Whenever you see good in the other person, express it, appreciate it and they'll automatically want to do more good. You don't have to do it artificially, you just have to look at their positive side. Everyone could do with a bit of appreciation. In a relationship, two people, day-in-day-out do numerous things that could be appreciated but the lack of the first three elements make them oblivious to the good the other person is doing.

This is my life with no care

Photo: The more the Sattva, the more fulfillment comes, and work that you undertake gets accomplished. The more you are in a joyful state, that much more of your work get completed. The lesser your cravings for your desires to get fulfilled, the more your desires get fulfilled. If you sit with new desires every minute then, our consciousness which is like a computer, gets confused - like how you commonly call it, ‘it hangs’ and abruptly stops working. Even in your cell phone, if you initiate too many operations all at once it will stop working. Just like a cell phone, our consciousness is like a big computer. That is why desiring is also an art, and having your desires fulfilled is also an art.

Q: Guruji, I can easily identify and witness my negative patterns, however, it is very difficult to break away from them. How does one break away from these patterns?

Guruji : Whatever you gain by effort has a limited age, and is for a limited time. What you gain by effortlessness is ageless and timeless.

The answer to your question is hidden in this answer somewhere; you dig into it. I have given you a formula. In this formula, anything that you achieve with effort will have a result that is time-bound and limited; it cannot be forever. Anything that you get through effortlessness is timeless and painless.

What is life,is it full of joy?
What is life,is it full of sadness?
What is this life, is it full of care?
We have no time to stand and stare
no time to see when the flowers bloom
no time to see when trees we pass
where squirrels hide there nuts in grass
no time to see the beauty of daylight
no time to see sparkling stars at night
no time to see how beautiful she is,
with her glance
and watch her feet during the dance
no time to see the cute smile of my baby
is it my life busy or lazy?
is it my life full of care for others?
no time is for me and my dreams,
now i understand,
this is my life with no care

A Wise Man is Happy Even in Bad Times

Photo: Here's a short story from India about a man who was asked about his occupation, the man replied, "I am a farmer."

The other guy replied, "You don't look like a farmer. How much land do you have?"

The farmer said, "5 and a half feet."

There was a loud laugh. "How much can you raise in 5 and a half feet of land?"

"This is very special soil," said the farmer. "This body is my field, my thoughts and actions are the seeds and Karma, good and bad, is the harvest."

A Wise Man is Happy Even in Bad Times

People who are willing to serve will have good times even in the bad times. when there are problems such as famine or war-torn countries, the Red Cross people will be fine as they are serving. The more relief they bring, the happier they feel. And people who are selfish and who just want to enjoy themselves will be miserable even in good times. Often the organizers of a party do not enjoy the party because some little thing is missing, they forgot to invite somebody, somebody did not come or some little thing went wrong.
A wise one is happy even in bad times. And the stupid one is unhappy even in good times.
You make the time good or bad. People usually blame the bad time and wait for the good time. Even if an astrologer says that you have a hopeless time, you can make it a good time!
Like weather, time has its own impact on you. But your Satsangs and sadhana are your shield, your protection! So realize that you are more than time and that you can move the time by your connection to the Divine.
Don't feel shy to speak about human and spiritual values. Time has come now to call the whole world!
THE ALL is calling,

The ball is rolling!
Time is milling,
The Soul is willing.

Photo: A very relaxed Shivji! when i first saw this picture pose, my thought was, "its like someone poses with His car" and which isnt far from the truth at all! Because Nandiji the great Gana is many things rolled into one: he is the most faithful devotee,His bhava is gentle, like that of a child to a father, and yet he is the most formidable guard, never leaving His Master, and he is one impossible raging Bull to get across, if one even thinks negatively about Shiva.

Photo: Your desire influence your act...

There is a story about a monkey trying to get an apple out of a vase. The more he pulls at the apple the more the neck of the vase resists his clenched fist. A wise man takes the vase and turns it upside down and the apple falls into the monkeys open hand. When we act under the influence of desire our hands are closed. We create a peaceless state within. When we want to be somewhere the journey becomes longer. When we want to be heard or want them to listen, we lose the power behind speech. To care for others but under the influence of our own attachment or desire is connected to satisfying our own feelings. It means I take from what I give so others receive something that is second hand. To let go of the body, relationships of the body and developing an attitude of disinterest to all desires will make whatever I need come my way. Love, kindness and caring will not run out of fuel or be fickle. Enough is a feast anyway. There is a lot more to this subject, most of which I don't know, but not knowing much is an exciting place to be.

Guruji, Please give your special message on teachings of Jesus.

Photo: Q: Guruji, Please give your special message on teachings of Jesus.

Guruji : Love is the most sought-after but least expressed mystery of life. We try to express love in so many ways, still it remains a mystery. And it rarely happens that love is expressed in its fullness, in its totality. Jesus and love are synonymous. If you say love, you need not say Jesus and if you say Jesus, it means love. Jesus once said, “If you call God in my name, whatever you ask shall be given. For God is love.” You find such a complete expression of love in Jesus. Whatever little glimpses you may get here and there indicates that fullness, that ultimate expression of the inexpressible that life is striving to express all the time.

Love makes you weak, but brings you the kingdom of heaven. However strong you are, you are the weakest when you are in love. Yet love is the strongest force on this universe. Since love makes you weak, it also is scary. Among thousands, just a few followed Jesus. Many heard, but just a few came. Even after performing many miracles, only handful of people could recognise him.

Love has no name, nor form. Love is abstract, yet it is very concrete. It has no name or form but manifests in all names and in all forms. This is the mystery of creation. You can see love everywhere in this creation if only you have an eye to see it. Just see a bird, and a small one in the nest. The bird comes and how it feeds its young one. See how the young one waits for the mother bird to come. There is love in it. There is love among fish. There is love in the sky. There is love underneath the water. There is love on the ground. And there is love in the outer space.

Every form is full of love and every name represents love. And that is how Jesus is One with the Father. Father is One with his creation. Love is present everywhere, but somewhere it finds total expression. And the knowledge of the Self leads you towards that total expression of love, of blossoming of love. It lifts your eyes from all tiny little things. One Divine is providing for everybody. Neither the python goes to work nor the birds toil. Everybody is taken care of. Everything is taken care of. Jesus said, “Love each other as much as I love you.”

The Strangest Secret - How to Live the Life You Desire

How to Live the Life You Desire

George Bernard Shaw said, "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them."

Well, it's pretty apparent, isn't it? And every person who discovered this believed (for a while) that he was the first one to work it out. We become what we think about.

Conversely, the person who has no goal, who doesn't know where he's going, and whose thoughts must therefore be thoughts of confusion, anxiety and worry—his life becomes one of frustration, fear, anxiety and worry. And if he thinks about nothing... he becomes nothing.

How does it work? Why do we become what we think about? Well, I'll tell you how it works, as far as we know. To do this, I want to tell you about a situation that parallels the human mind.

Suppose a farmer has some land, and it's good, fertile land. The land gives the farmer a choice; he may plant in that land whatever he chooses. The land doesn't care. It's up to the farmer to make the decision.

We're comparing the human mind with the land because the mind, like the land, doesn't care what you plant in it. It will return what you plant, but it doesn't care what you plant.

Now, let's say that the farmer has two seeds in his hand—one is a seed of corn, the other is nightshade, a deadly poison. He digs two little holes in the earth and he plants both seeds—one corn, the other nightshade. He covers up the holes, waters and takes care of the land...and what will happen? Invariably, the land will return what was planted.

As it's written in the Bible, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."

Remember the land doesn't care. It will return poison in just as wonderful abundance as it will corn. So up come the two plants—one corn, one poison.

The human mind is far more fertile, far more incredible and mysterious than the land, but it works the same way. It doesn't care what we plant...success...or failure. A concrete, worthwhile goal...or confusion, misunderstanding, fear, anxiety and so on. But what we plant must return to us.

You see, the human mind is the last great unexplored continent on earth. It contains riches beyond our wildest dreams. It will return anything we want to plant.
You have a whole life to win

Conflict and Innocence

Photo: Conflict and Innocence

Fights can only happen among equals. When you fight with someone, you make them equal. But in reality there is no one at par with you. When you keep people either above or below you, then there is no fight. When they are above you, you respect them. When they are below you, you love them and you feel compassionate. Either submission or compassion can take you out of a fight in no time. This is one way to look at it when you are tired of fighting. When you are well rested, just fight and have fun.

The same is true of the mind. As long as the mind thinks it is equal to the senses, there is conflict. When it realizes that it is bigger than the senses, there is no conflict. And when the mind is smaller than the senses, like in animals, there is no conflict. When the mind is caught up in the senses, there is constant conflict. When it transcends the senses, it comes back to its true

THE KINGDOM OF SHIVA

Photo: THE KINGDOM OF SHIVA

Don’t be afraid. Human birth is full of suffering and one has to endure everything patiently, taking the name of God.

Photo: Don’t be afraid. Human birth is full of suffering and one has to endure everything patiently, taking the name of God. None, not even God in human form, can escape the sufferings of body and mind. I tell you one thing my child — if you want peace, do not find fault with others. Rather, see your own faults. Learn to make the world your own. No one is a stranger, my child; the whole world is your own.

=======================

Today, I give up! I give up trying to control things that I can not control. I give up trying to be someone I am not. I give up resisting the things that just are. I give up! Today I accept that I am not perfect. Today I accept that things will not always go my way. Today I float with the current rather than beat myself up swimming against it.

=======================

Your beloved Angels are asking you to release the negative feelings of the past, to let go of the substance of the pain that stops you from living a life of unlimited joy and love. Forgiveness doesn't mean you accept inappropriate behavior towards yourself, because that is never acceptable. It means that you no longer are prepared to carry the pain of reaction within you. When we refuse to react or carry the pain from other's abuse of us, it feeds and empowers them. So let go - allow your Angels to take these burdens from you. Allow them to lighten your heart so that you will be released, while feeling charged and enlivened.

Ardhnarishwar – Me Without You is Incomplete

Photo: Ardhnarishwar – Me Without You is Incomplete

Ardhnarishvara is the androgynous form of the Shiva and his consort
Parvati (Shakti). In this incarnation Lord Shiva and his consort
Parvati are merged limb to limb in one form with the right side
depicting Shiva and the left Parvati. There are various mythological
stories which shed light and have interesting tales to the origin of
the Ardhnarishvara form.

It is said that once, Lord Brahma did severe penance to please Lord
Shiva to ask for a boon to manifest creation. Shiva manifested as
Ardhnarishwar form however Brahma was unable to take the heat
emanating from the pure Shakti – Shiv form. Hence Lord Shiva then
separated the feminine part of his body (Goddess Parmeshwari) and
instructed her to begin creation.

It is said that Both Brahma (the creator) and Vishnu (the preserver)
manifested from the body of goddess Parmeshwari for Shakti is the
creator and the preserver of the world as Shakti is the nature around
us which helps us to be born in our environment (Brahma) and also
provides us with the utilities and resources to sustain our life forms
(Vishnu).

Ardhanarishvara represents the synthesis of masculine and feminine
energies of the universe (Purusha and Prakriti) symbolizing that both
cannot be without the other – one is incomplete in the absence of the
other.

Another story of Ardhnarishvara has its roots in Sage Bhringi who
tried to worship only Shiva, and ignored Parvati while worshiping
Shiva. The sage tried to go around Shiva without circling Parvati.
Agitated Parvati sat on Shiva’s thigh so as to ensure Bhringi would
not succeed and had to encircle her too . Seeing this Sage Bhringi
then took the form of a bee and tried to circle Shiva through the
small gap between Shiva and Parvati. Infuriated with Sage Bhringis
attempts Parvati united herself with Shiva- fusing herself limb to
limb thereby compelling Sage Bhringi to worship her as well as Shiva
in the form of Ardhanarishvara.

However there is a much deeper significance of the Ardhnarishvara
incarnation for this form signifies the interdependence of Nature and
Man – Man and Woman. It is said that a Woman completes a Man. This
saying does not only apply purely in a companion and physical sense
but also drives home the fact that both Man (manhood representing –
discrimination, single pointed goal orientation, path to
righteousness, intellectual decision making) and Woman (representing
sensitivity, emotions, tenderness, compassion, passion) cannot survive
in singularity and both these emotions are not competing with each
other but rather need each other for survival as each of these
complement each other.

Woman represents Nature – for she has the power to create – to give
birth and to sustain her creation. Hence it is said it blessed to be
born as a Woman. Our Universe- Our Environment – Our Surrounding
Nature – Shakti has helped create and sustain us. She provides us with
Food, Resources and Shelter.

Man – Purush thrives on Nature – which is Fertile and provides him
resources. Man in his over zealous attitude has exploited Shakti which
once in a while reminds man of her exploitation through earthquakes,
Tsunamis, Forest Fires etc. However Nature cannot be without Man for
her purpose would be defeated. She reaps and grows by engaging man
into procreation – Creating New Technologies – New Foundations.
Similarly Man cannot sustain without Nature as he is kept in activity
and dynamism through Shakti – Nature.

Thus the form of Ardhnareshwara represents the union of Purush (Shiva)
and Shakti. Both feed from each other and are merged limb to limb -
inseparable – as sustenance of one without the other is not possible
which is amply visible in distant planets with no life forms and only
nature. The solar system has planets with resources such as diamonds
but they remain unappreciated because there is no observer (Purush) to
appreciate the observation (Nature) and hence defeating the purpose of
the to be observed natures presence.

“Me without You” is incomplete is the truth of life which we all are
made to realize at some juncture in our life. Our life is made of
several moments of impact and it is these impacts which make us what
we are. They define us and ever continuously change us. Hence just as
Nature does not remain constant so does Purush remain in an ever
changing flux where moments of impact change the Path of our Journey –
our outlook to life – our goals – our purpose.

It is said that those we meet during our path are our soulmates – our
guides for lessons that we must learn. It is upto us to complete
ourselves by correctly learning the lesson and progress ahead. Our
companion (better half or spouse) is our twin who complements us in
every way in life hence ensuring that together we are complete as a
unit. Our twin allows us to experience not only our characteristics
but also experience what we lack through their eyes and observations.
Hence both Manhood and Womanhood are needed to guide us to our goals –
our destiny and take us towards a meaningful complete life which is
one of the fundamentals of Ardhnareshwara – for God is not only man or
only woman – he is all encompassing and every emotion that we feel is
just one of the myriad range of feelings which emanate from him.
