The crisis of wisdom is not confined to any one particular religion.
The crisis of wisdom is not confined to any one particular religion. All mainstream religions of today are afflicted by misinterpretation. Hinduism, whose essence is in one consciousness permeating everything, is today seen as a religion of idolaters. More than stereotyping by the people of other faiths, it’s the shallow understanding of the religion by Hindus themselves which is responsible for this kind of branding.
Hardly any pundit explains the formless essence behind the forms they worship. Even fewer understand that multiple forms are just a variable manifestation of one Brahmn, the universal consciousness. The ultimate Divine proclamation, Sarvam Khalvidam Brahmn has become just another topic for spiritual discourses.
There is a dilution of the spiritual essence of Hinduism. To very few, Rama means the “light within me”. It takes a leap of faith to see Shiva beyond the images of the Shivalinga and realise Him as the all-permeating tattva (principle). Not many will agree that meditation and mental puja is the highest form of devotion. Most don’t know the rich significance behind a yagna.
