: Aravana production at Sabarimala, which was stopped on Tuesday, resumed at 1.30 p.m. on Thursday, said Devaswom executive officer V.S. Jayakumar.
Production of aravana was suspended on Tuesday owing to short supply of superior quality sugar candy by the Kumili-based High Range Marketing Society, which has undertaken the contract to supply the material to the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), the executive officer said.
The sugar candy supplied by the society was rejected by the quality control team of the Food Safety Department, forcing the TDB to directly purchase the material from the local market on Wednesday and Thursday, the executive officer said.
Cine actor Jayaram and his son, Kalidas, took part in the one-hour Punyam Poonkavanam cleanliness programme held at the Sabarimala Sannidhanam on Thursday.
The actor, along with his son, offered prayers at Lord Ayyappa Temple on Wednesday evening.
The Punyam Poonkavanam programme was launched by the Police department three years ago. Government employees and various other agencies as well as VIPs visiting the temple have been taking part in the cleanliness drive. at the hill shrine. -TheHindu
