The third eye, also called the mind's eye, or inner eye, is a mystical and esoteric concept of a speculative invisible eye which provides perception beyond ordinary sight. In certain dharmic spiritual traditions , the third eye refers to the ajna, or brow, chakra. The third eye refers to the gate that leads to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. In New Age spirituality, the third eye often symbolises a state of enlightenment. It's often referred to as the "gyananakashu" , the eye of knowledge. The third eye is often associated with religious visions, clairvoyance, the ability to observe chakras and auras, precognition, and out-of-body experiences. People who are claimed to have the capacity to utilise their third eyes are sometimes known as seers.
In Hinduism, the third eye is said to be located around the middle of the forehead, slightly above the junction of the eyebrows. Many people assume that because of His destructive 'third eye', Lord Shiva is known as the destroyer, or also known as Tryambaka deva. Shiva's third eye is known as the eye of spiritual wisdom and knowledge. The right is referred as Sun and left eye as moon. They represent His activities in the physical world while the third eye symbolises His spiritual wisdom and power. Through His third eye, Lord Shiva is able to see beyond the apparent and destroy all evil. All the evil and ignorance vanishes as Shiva opens his third eye.
Shiva's third eye thus represents the rejection of desire. It killed Kama, the God of love and desires. Shiva rejects desire because He understands that when the object of desire (Sati) goes away, there is immense sorrow and rage which develops in a being. Hence, to stay away from the desire is the best way to attain bliss.! 👁💥🌀🔱💀⌛️🐍🌙🕉🐚🔔🎨
