Lord Shiva Natraja. Modern image

Photo: Lord Shiva Natraja. Modern image. The Natraja is perhaps the most beautiful of all images in the heritage of shiva lovers. For a detailed meaning, please read on the conventional image of Natraja given earlier in the below link.

The Demon that shivji steps upon, normally shown as a dwarf, is Apasmara, the ego. Here, the artist has developed apasmara as well muscled, which means a trained ego, perhaps!! we must all learn to rise above the ego of "I ness" and merge into the universality of Godness, or rise from completely worldly things to the divine current that flows through all things. Aum Namah Shivaya!!
