TWO MAIN WAYS
Things we can touch, and
Things we can feel.
Of the first there can be a storage, an accumulation, a spending,
a giving ; and therefore a measurement and account .
How many clothes
How many cars
How many houses
How much bank balance
And though we take a full lifetime to build these desperately,
in the end, the things that we can touch do not go with us anywhere, when we can no longer touch them:
At the time of death, with the end of our body,
these end their association with us.
This is a Universal truth.
We accumulate the things we feel also, throughout our lifetime.
Love and hate
Admiration and jealousy
Respect and indignation
Friendship and rivalry
These accumulations cannot ordinarily be 'seen'
but they never ever leave us.
Even after death,
they cling to us as our inherent traits
and are the FIRST to accompany us in our next birth.
This too is a Universal truth, but a lesser believed one
since these things cannot be touched.
But they are always felt, over and over again, in every life, in every incarnation, easily outliving the houses and cars and clothes.
So too, the wise do not invest in hatred and jealousy, rivalry and indignation; and loosen their bonds with these negatives in this very life with devotion, and awareness, turning towards positivity of thought and mind and heart instead.
Aum Namah Shivaye.
