Meditation is a mental exercise, in the same way that jogging is a cardiovascular exercise. The process of jogging strengthens the heart, the lungs, and the circulatory system of the jogger. The process of meditation strengthens the mind of the meditator. As an exercise for decreasing stress, increasing mindfulness, increasing happiness, etc, meditation has no more to do with religion than jogging does.
Over the past several millennia, spiritual leaders from religions all around the world have used the process of meditation to deepen their spiritual lives. The cultivation of high states of concentration through meditation has been incorporated into all of the major western religions as well as being fundamental to all of the major eastern religions. In this regard, meditation is an independent mental exercise that has been used by members of all faiths to explore their own, personal, senses of spirituality.

Meditation is mind without agitation. Stress creates agitation and is something most of us deal with on some level. Meditation allows people to take charge of their own nervous system and emotions. Studies have shown improved ability to permanently regulate emotions in the brain.
It improves concentration. Meditation has been linked to a number of things that lead to increased ability to focus. Meditation teaches to recognize own anger and become more detached from it. It clears his mind and calms one down. Meditation puts you on the fast track to being happy. Studies have shown that brain signaling increases in the left side of the prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for positive emotions, while activity decreases in the right side, responsible for negative emotions. The other benefits of meditation, including increased self-awareness and acceptance, also contribute to improved overall well-being.
Studies show that meditation changes brain physiology to slow aging. The practice also benefits cardiovascular and immune health. Meditation induces relaxation, which increases the compound nitric oxide that causes blood vessels to open up and subsequently, blood pressure to drop. ✨👁🌀🕉🎨✨
