Lord Shiva has not punished a person for being a demon, or rewarded someone for being a God.
Their punishments and rewards are given as a consequence to their actions, following the laws of nature.
We too, should see not judge the other because of their race or gender. We see all as equal, and act positively. We respond to their actions, but with full understanding of the intention as well as the consequence.
