Om Hari Om Bolo Hari Om ~ Hari Om Tat Sat Namah Shivaya!!
When we chant the Name of a Deity, it is appeased. In worldly life, when we are constantly in touch with someone he does not forget us. Thus, by chanting His Name if we remain in contact with God, then He too remembers us.
"अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जनाः पर्युपासते । तेषां नित्याभियुक्तानां योगक्षेमं वहाम्यहम् ।। ~ Shrimad bhagwad geeta. Meaning ~ "I take care of the worldly requirements of those who worship me with devotion." This reveals the secret of devotion that when we remain engrossed in God’s Name, He looks after our worldly and spiritual needs. This as Rajayoga. Saints bestow the title ‘wealthy’ upon the one who chants God’s Name. Hence, one who chants God’s Name is truly wealthy.’ Though buttermilk contains butter, only when it is churned does the butter rise to the surface. Similarly, when we constantly chant God’s Name, He bestows His love in numerous ways.
You may realise this or not, but each of us are benefited in innumerable ways from chanting God’s Name. It is said that chanting God’s Name continuously keeps us in communion with God and can liberate us from the bondage of life and death. We cannot predict when death will come, thus, we should keep chanting continuously. One who contemplates on God’s Name continuously is able to chant in his final moments also. "When one dies chanting God’s Name, he merges with my form and is liberated. Depending on the individual’s state of mind in his final moments, he progresses and takes birth again. Hence one should keep chanting God’s Name".
"अन्ते मतिः सा गतिः ।’, meaning, the last thought at the time of death will decide your further progress. We cannot predict when death will come, thus, we should keep chanting continuously. Hence, God has said in Bhagwat Geeta that ‘Always remember me’. "Even if by mistake my Name is uttered at the time of death, even a pauper attains liberation." ~ Shrimad Bhagwatam.
Japa or chanting is recommended as the best spiritual practice in Kaliyug (Era of strife), all negative energies cannot be defeated through satsang, satseva, tyag, but can be defeated by God’s Name. This is mainly because one gets marak-shakti (Destroyer energy) required to combat them only through God’s Name. And continuous spiritual practice is possible only through chanting. Also chanting the appropriate Name, one can experience distress due to negative energies. If someone is affected by negative energies, they can experience distress when they begin with the appropriate chant. The reason for distress in the beginning is the friction between the negative energies and the positive energy created by chanting. Also if the name is chanted inappropriately it can cause distress, problems or cause negative energies. So be very careful while chanting the name!!
